Rattle and squeek

hey guys, I had one rattle so far in my TL, which was fixed today....

here is what I read on my work order:
1)
Complaint: Customre states when driving a rattle noise is heard comming from the rear package tray.
Cause: Confirmed complaint. Found rear hatch escape cable rubbing underside fo trunk tray.
Fix: Insulated trunk tray from cable and roadtested ok at the time.

2)
Complaint: Customer states front seat squeeks from inside the cushion while driving intermittantly.
Cause: Unable to confirm complain at this time
Fix: Recommending that ther customer allow squeek to become more consistant or drive by when doing it so our tech can hear the concern.
---end---

I was happy with the service, and rattle was fixed.

My trunk release was not mounted at all (the one behind the arm rest in the rear seat (center pass through area there is a cable to open the trunk in case the power release fails since there is no key to open the trunk).

I put it back together myself.

Yes, and no power outside button (when the doors are unlocked) like BMW, Volvo, MB and even the TSX.

Yep, when I fixed it, absolutely none of my rattles disappeared, but the vibration at 1500rpm did.

Hah, just kidding!

I only fixed it as it bothered me to see it hanging.

BTW - where is the QC in this car?

Tread,

I don't see any cable hanging, but then it is 10:51pm so I'll wait until day light and look again.

I opened the opening between the seats and checked around, the materials are very good but the deck rattles a lot, seems to be near the passenger side speaker.

As for QC, God only knows maybe everybody with issues here bought Friday and Monday end of shift cars.

Norse,

when you look at the openeing, just beyond the interior, look up, that is where the release is located (in an square opening cut in the felt.

Also, I took my spare out today (it is a Firestone, not Bridgestone) and found three loose bolts in the well, I took those babies out, just more to drive me nuts.

Also, I noticed that my exhaust tips are rusting from the back edge (towards muffler) and leaving rust stains going towards the back of the car. I know others reported this, but now I am seeing it.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

I'll check out my trunk first thing tomorrow, I'll also check the exhaust. I have to admit, someone taking the rear deck apart scares me, I hope they do a good job.

Rear deck means rear seat has to come out too. Good luck to us all

I've taken the back seat out myself before.. it's not that bad. Just a lot of time involved.

Norse: By the way, it could be your rear seat's middle seatbelt. That's what caused my rattle in the rear deck.

Yep, that rattles along with whatever else is rattling back there. I checked the cable, seems ok.
