functional, good placement, etc. maybe somewhat of a long reach, might relocate it near the gearshift so i dont have to lean forward.

I always do left of the mirror under that strip deal...If you need to swap around the radar buy a cord or a spare cord. You can hardwire into the mirror.

I say location 2 because cops will usually aim their radar closer to your bumper. Be careful if they have laser. I have the same model radar detector and they got me once. Laser is the hardest one to detect (by any maker or model) and by the time the Escort lets you know they already have you.

Well the USPS man just dropped it off Unfortunately/fortunately, I am home sick instead of at school, so I can't go and test it, but I can program it to my liking. Right now it is in the position that Rick has, with all bands and POP on. TSR is off, but if I feel like I am getting lots of false alarms, then I will turn it on. It is set in Auto mode. I just realized, that hardwiring it means no quicks controls...so I will see if I use the controls or not. I will prolly hardwire it though, thanks to everyone here convincing me.

do you mean no mute? look at my post about. hardwiring wire comes with a remote attached.

also, i recommend that you KEEP it in highway mode, but TURN off x band. imo, best combination. i didnt see a diff. in city with the city/auto mode, but on the highway, its better.

I did this a long time ago. I hard wired my Escort 9500i and put the mute here first for one day.....

That was a dumb spot so I mounted it in the open slot next to the mirror switch. Best location for the mute button.

The radar is out of site, out of mind here.

Well, I was getting the invisicord...made by a company called Invisicord, and it is 9 bucks cheaper without mute. This is the setup on the radar right now: Auto mode, POP on, TSR on...good?

The site says V1 and Beltronics on it somewhere...so yes it will most likely fit. It all depends on what the connection is like.

Yes- I have one and it works for my Sti- I'm assuming the rx65 uses the same phone cord connector as the others. The phone connector plug is compatible for both Bel and Escort. You can do a search and find the pins to hook into.

I have to admit doing the same thing on our Pilot with the remote location- seemed like a good idea until you try to use it. What I found is the high location is so convenient (even on the high roofed Pilot) that it's easier to push the mute button on the unit for me. My STi has front faced controls so it's very convenient pushing the button. I used the invisicord for my TL and it's a clean installation tapping into the dimming mirror connector.

Better it sees more things than seeing too few things. IMO.

Make sure its on the city setting if you're in the city, highway if you're on the highway, etc...call me captain obvious. Makes a huge difference.

Lol, people have all told me different thing. Some say highway in the city, some say auto in city, and now city in city, I'll try that.

I keep mine on city mode exclusively- haven't been surprised yet for 3 years of ownership. I'm afraid that if the detector was constantly alerting I would start to ignore it. The new GPS detectors could help in this way by filtering known false areas.

Depends what you want. City mode will only pick up strong signals & ignore things such as building alarms, & what not.

However, I would leave it on highway mode. Cops in Dallas hide under KA & K bands, & don't hesitate to stay near a building you know throws a K band.

Ok. Today, in a school zone, I wasn't speeding, parked actual and it caught a cop a good distance away. But I think I will stick with highway.

9500i and 9500xi have gps. It does what you hate, remembers and blocks the false detections. Getting a fales alarm, I hit the mute button on my remote three times and it saves the signal and location so next time I wont get a false reading. Also with the gps, you can store speed and redlight camera locations. It warns you of the locations 5000 feet away. One really cool feature is when the radar is detected, it shows you your speed (gps) on the screen so no need to look at your speedo. Thats what 450 bucks gets you

In our area, at least through my bud's 9500, it has a tendency to say, "Redlight camera" at intersections I know there aren't any. Kind of annoying, really, so maybe you know how to program it so it knows a specific intersection isn't a redlight camera one?

I know if I program a location and I want to remove it, as you come up to the light or speed trap and the radar starts to countdown to the light, hit the mark button and it will ask you "unmark this location." Press the mark button again and it will unmark the location. Let me know if it works for you.

You can hardwire it into the dome light assembly, there's a thread around somewhere and it shows exactly where to plug the power cord into the back of a plug, plus that wire is keyed to the power so it'll shut off by itself. I went with an invisicord and if I change cars I just take the power plug and visor clip with me. I've got a V1 but it should make any difference.

you could just buy some Velcro with the adhesive sides

I find the suction cups only last a year or two. I order 20 at a time, they're not that expensive. One guy put clear silicone under the cups to hold them.

I placed mine right above my rear view mirror to the left. I'm able to open and lcose my sun visor without a problem.

What took me a while was finding one that fits in that area.

It's a proven fact that the tinted area at top of windshield reduces range & accuracy of unit. Drop it a few inches.

hmm, I have 50% on my windshield...does that drastically affect the range as well?

Proven fact? I've had all my radar detectors up there and it has always alerted me accurately to any speed traps, cops with radars etc...

Even my EZPAss is stuck to that part of the tinted window and works everytime.

Have YOU tested this method yourself to determine its a fact? I think it varies by vehicle as some have a different material in its glass that could effect the radar.
