racing porsche turbo

ok so i'm prolly just going to get flamed for this but i was driving home tonight on a pretty empty 405S and this turbo starts to get into it with me on the fwy... so i was like sure what the heck it'll be fun to get smoked by a turbo... so we raced down the fwy (he was cutting in and out of carpool) and i was watching out for other cars too...

so i was able to keep up with him! i could hear his turbo spooling up and it sounded sick...at no point did he blow me away... i was kinda impressed by my car being able to keep up with him...before i knew it i was at 145 and i could feel that my car could have still pulled further..we did a few of these 80-140 runs and it was pretty insane. ive never gone that fast and believe me its scary so i won't be doing that again for a while. anyways it was a huge adrenaline rush so i thought i'd share.

oh and yeah for all those who are going to flame me, i was by myself and fwy was fairly empty. yes i know it was stupid. thanks.

It's ok....I was racing an Audi A4 one night on Sunset Bl near UCLA/Beverly Hills as I was testing out my new Tein suspension. On the turns I was up on his rear bumper but on the straight away he was pulling. So I was not surprise since it might be a turbo. But once on the signal I notice it was no any ordinary A4.....I saw a dual exhaust on each side and I found out...it was a RS4.

Good to hear our FWD Family Sedans can keep up with some monsters out there. If you are racing upto 140, all i would say is Dont get scared while ur at 140 because that is when you can messup GodForbid.

Great job man, wicked mods you're running in the TL cause you'll need them to keep up with a Porsche Turbo. Off the line i"m sure he'd cream you though. Nice run.

ua6spec, are you sure it was an RS4 and not a modded A4? Cause the RS4 doesn't come with dual exhausts on each side. At least not the 2006 / 2007's. Nice to hear the TL with a modded suspension can keep up with Quattro!!

I love the idea but am I supposed to think that those modifications are good for 115+ traps? Obviously we dont know what year we're talking about, none the less it's cool to know that this can happen in certain situations.

I also agree. But we dont stand a chance against a Turbo Porsche. If it was a regular Carrera 4S, it would be a drivers race!!!

I enjoy seeing modified TL's but I find it funny that it "SEEMS" (Subjective) that he really thinks he has a car that can hang with turbo porsche's.

He was toying with you my friend! Those cars are sick fast. The 0-60 time is around 3.5 sec and if I remember well mid 11 for 1/4 mile.
The acceleration in these cars pushes you head back regardless of the speed you're at.They can smoke the tires in almost any gear!.
The fact you kept up with him was because he wanted to!In a real race, by 140 mph he would've put around 15 cls on you regardless of mods you have.
No offense but I want to keep it real!

It's not a mid 11 car, at least the generic turbo. (If you can use generic for a turbo) It's still a low low 12 second car at 115+.

yall should read what I said..no duh the turbo(new) would smoke the living shit out of me in a race off the line but we were racing in the range of 75-145...his acceleration was crazy even at that speed but I was able to keep up nicely, that's all.

He doesnt need to race you off the line to beat your ass. He would MAUL you from 75-145, if he were going full. I dont understand how your brain allows you to legitimately think you can hang with a turbo with the modifications you have.

That's the kind of car that can TOY with you, even as modified as you are, without going full throttle.

it always surprises me how many ppl on the forums have a 3rd grade level of reading comprehension. I never said my brain thinks my TL is a match for porsche turbo, but under the circumstances i was able to hang..so yah maybe he was toying the whole time or maybe he can't drive hah..i was just recalling a experience on the fwy, not on a timed dragstip

Please, you ranted around like you hung with him from 75+, or whatever your mph was. You NEVER ONCE said that he may not have been trying. You've been dead serious the entire time.

He didn't even say what model and year porsche he raced. I've seen older turbo'ed porsches at the track and they were running around mid 12s. You don't think his sc'ed TL can run high 12s if he had drag radials and knew how to launch/drive?

Not to mention he said he was keeping up... not like he said he smoked the shit out of one.

I dont believe he can run high 12's with his TL. Nobody has yet with that set up and until HE does, it doesnt really matter.

He wont trap remotely close to that mid 12 second Turbo either, which is what really matters in the midrange race.

i guess i should have thought to rolled down my window ask him if he was trying

Well even if he wasnt going full throttle, he must have still been on the gas a great deal to be able to have his turbo spool.

Again, it all depends on what year Porsche it was. Either way, at least he had some fun. I've had similar run ins with the 997 version of the 911 turbos and have walked many of them (not in my TL ). However, even in stock form, they do have some serious power.

you called it ussi...you got crap for it. lol

I would have loved to see the TL and the Porsche taggin eachother on the 405.

It seems whenever I go up to LA I tend to find a competitor to race all throughout the trip, pretty fun.

145MPH is pretty fast, done it once and thats it.
