why don't you race and tell us what the outcome is. Just don't do it on the street or at least do it on an empty road

Honestly, you really shouldnt be racing but if you are, make sure you're on a "clean" road with no one around. When i get my TL, i'll probably be doing the same thing...

i think the outcome will be a thread full of posts saying you're an idiot and likely to die with a few scattered posts of encouragement here and there.

You should win that race easily, but don't underestimate that little RSX, especially if your friend knows how to drive it. 201 HP in a car that weighs a lot less than your TL. Get him off the line and you'll win that race easily.

If he knows how to drive, he'll probably walk away from you but not by much.

People who think a 5AT 3G TL can "smoke" an RSX-S 6MT must be smoking something themselves

AT 04 TL? if he can shift he's gonna take it. You'll get a jump off the line cuz of your tq but as soon as he hits second/third gear the magic of vtak will kick in.

I should know I have both an RSX-S and TL-S lol.

The only good thing is you can race these two cars for 6-7 seconds and not break any laws lol. Sounds like a long and boring "race".

Wow, your friend's dad sounds really responsible. I bet the owners of the mall property would love to hear that their manager is organizing car races for kids on their property.

You guys are douche bags, this dude never stated he was going to do it in traffic or some shit? Most of you act as if you would never bite to race someone and drive always the speed limit like angels, fu*k those lies.

Sorry had to vent.

Anyways RSX will get smoked, TL even automatic will pull no problems.

Do it somewhere safe. I'd give the edge to the RSX if your friend knows how to drive, even if you gate shift perfectly.

But, if your friend is a decent driver at best, you should take the win.

I'd give the edge to the RSX-S only if he is a good driver and spot on. The TL Auto will be lucky to pull off a 14.9 at best. Most I see run low 15's. But the TL is consistant.

thanks everyone i would say he is an okay driver remember he just got the car so he has some learning to do as so do i. Also ya my friends dad is realy close with his boss, the only reason i am aloud to is because his boss likes acuras and going fast! I am not doubthing the rsx type s it pulls for a 4cyl vtec stock...What you think i should do? from a roll or dead stop? gear? lol

PS thank you for the back up Ineedmyfixofacura people need to read and think before they say something, i am just trying to learn

If he is an ok driver than you will win. Go from a dead stop and a roll. It will be interesting to see the results.

i was thinking 25mph roll? also i was gonna take off my traction control wasn't sure and with my trip tonic i think its better to let it shift its self when i have it over in that so it hits safety shift and at max peak instead of me shifting to early or nah?

A 25mph roll would be good. hold 1st gear at 25MPH. A 45MPH roll in 2nd gear would also be good. You should use manual mode when going from a roll so you are already in the right gear. If you leave it in D5 and let it down shift itself the RSX will leave you in the dust.

IMO, a real race is from a dead stop. You can't change the race to fit your car's shortcomings. If you lose off the start, come back next time with some mods that will take care of the problem.

Experiment with the launch ahead of time and if possible on the same surface as you're going to race on. If traction is the problem, play with tire pressure, not going below 28psi. Or you can do a quick spin to clean them off.

If it bogs and won't spin, figure out which technique gets you off the line quicker. Some cars like to flash the convertor, some like a full on powerbrake, and some launch better just shocking the convertor from idle.

Also, keep in mind that if the 5at TL spins just a little it will usually help your launch by getting the engine in the powerband quicker and eliminating bog. That's assuming you're not doing a smokey burnout lol.

I agree 100% with this statement, old school "true" races are from a start. It's what I grew up on!

Sounds like the RSX driver might be a noob, I'd say the TL will take this one.

Empty lot sounds ok, better then some city street. Can't lie, I've done it and so has everyone else.

Good luck! Report back with results son.

You'll need to shut the hell up! What the f-ck are you in the kill section for if you don't like it? On another note I'm a firm believer that you don't post benchracer posts in the kill section and that if it hasn't happened yet then don't talk about it! Lol this is the first time I've seen some of you guys talking shit about someone that wants to run'em.... put down that hateraid so you can dust the sand outcha veginas! Ha

Nice kill! Glad that it actually happened. One thing I forgot to mention that the 5at greatly benefits from..... Don't worry about manually shifting 1-2 and 2-3. Just let it shift itself. However, hold it in third as long as you can without hitting the revlimiter. The longer you can keep it out of 4th the better you will do. I ran an '07 TL a while back and we were dead even. However, I held third a little longer and put a solid carlength or more on him the second he shifted to 4th.

Huh? RSXs are kind of sporty but I wouldn't go so far as to say to watch out for them lol.
