Raced a IS350

I just got my 2007 Type S 3 days ago and had ended up next to a IS350 last night. I turned off the vsa and put it on manual. I took him out of the hole by about a little more then 1/2 a car. At about 55 or so he caught me and then pulled about 1 1/2 cars on me to 80 when we let off. I have 85 miles on my car and a modified 2004 K&N in there. I thought I was going to lose the race more then I did.

The TL-S will keep up with the best of them. However you need to be careful.

The Acura manual says not to rev it too high or accelerate too quickly during the first few hundred miles for break in.
How come you're already racing?

To Keep up with that IS350 i'm assuming you punched your engine beyond 5000rpm before each upshift.

Well i guess it is your car so you have a right to do what you choose to. =)

Dude you need to break in your vehicle first.

Keep it under 70 and 5k RPM before 5,000 miles

Well there is so many different suggestions on breaking in engines. I used to race motorcycles and the basic thought ended up that break it in as you will drive it. Also its a lease and will be gone in 36k.

Are you auto or manual? I know a manual TL could beat a G35 and I know a G35 manual can beat a lexus IS350 from a roll race. From a dig I'll give it to the IS350, but from a roll TL>G35>IS350. Here's a Video of a Lexus IS350 VS G35 going at it.

I have an 5AT I am pretty sure the IS was an AT also. FYI i have about 150 miles now and that was the only time I have gone over 3k rpm. I remember on my 2004 that the gas mileage and power felt better after 1k miles. Maybe I will get this.

NOS Sneaky Pete Kits

The Sneeky Pete was designed as a true "cheater kit." This kit will allow a user to obtain that extra tenth of a second without being obvious. It was designed as a very compact, simple-to-use nitrous only injection system. It will be necessary to jet carburetors a little richer while being "sneeky" because no additional fuel source is utilized. The kit comes complete with a super slim 10 oz. bottle, a nitrous solenoid, nylon nitrous line, wiring, 9 volt battery holder, and an assortment of jets.

Umm no the camera is in the G and the IS is the other car- dont you see it pull at the end of the video-

I also owned a TL, I now own an IS350-

TL was much roomier- IS350 is much faster

only the 250 comes with manual tranny. I heard the Traction control on the IS cant even be turned off and makes driving it boring.

yea, the glad that we can turn off our VSA at will. It's just scary if you can't turn it off. I was watching this Best Motoring video with a Porsche Cayman being driven hard on Tsukuba race track in the rain. Whenever the car reaches the limit, it would make this loud grinding noise. I thought there's something wrong with my headphone, but then i found out it's the stability system of that porsche.

Whoa, I'm surprised that a IS250 can keep up with you too, may be it was modded? They are just as fast as TSXs when stock. But IS350, I wouldn't go against them unless I want to be embarassed...

Good video. The VQ35HR powered G35 is definitely a highway monster. In the related R/T comparo, it looks like the IS350 and G35 Sport are in a dead heat from 0-120mph, with the TL-S a little behind.

First of all, to the original poster, you should've taken easy with your brand new car. Harsh acceleration on brand new car is not good for the engine. I took easy with my TL 6MT for the first 1000 miles. The manual will say 700 miles if I remember correctly.

Is your TL Type-S manual transmission or automatic??? I am unclear.

The automatic sucks donkey.

The MT always shines.

If you do have the MT,

And if you breakin good, then you can give Lexus IS350 a really good run. It'll be very good competition.

Smoke? smoke what? The auto tranny TL? yeah.

but it ain't gonna "smoke" the TL-Type S 6MT with a professional driver.

If 0.3 sec difference in 0-60 is called "smoking" then what is called if the difference was 3 seconds? I can't come up with a word. Why don't you bring it on.

You like smoking pot or something?

Even more importantly, are you saying that the '07 model IS350 has a completely different engine than the '06 model??? I would think that the engine is *identical*, same engine, same tranny, same electronics, similar body, similar interior, similar similar similar...... everything.

It is the variation of the Lexus IS350 cars getting results with the accelerations.

Ok, I read your message in page 1 and I see you are on AT.

Well in that case, the IS350 driver probably pushed the gas pedal a half way down, not a full throttle.

lol. Nah, I don't think the TL-S AT is THAT slow. Afterall, the TL-S is only 20hp behind the IS350 and has one less gear ratio. May be the driver of the IS pushed it 3/4way down! But not half way! In other, I still agree with you an Auto IS350 with smoke the Auto TL-S, but MT, different story.

i was tired of hearing the whole MT 07-S over AT 07-S so i actually went to the dealership myself and test drove both the MT type-S and the AT type-S and im going to have to say that from a Dig. the AT is probably a bit faster to 60 than the MT im not saying it is im just going by the way THINGS FELT reason being is that i felt the gears to far apart when shifting the Type-S and losing some time as uppose to the AT where the gears go in very solid right after another specially with the paddle shifters on the other hand though from a roll i felt the MT had a better pull to it i did both a 30 roll and a 40 roll at full throttle on both cars. although the MT is faster on a roll i still feel its not ALOT faster but instead just enough for you to get the jump and a half car.

my cousin works for Acura as a sales person so i was able to easily test drive both cars at the sametime.

just noticed that the G in this video isn't even an 07, it's one of the older ones and probably modded, so the TL>G>IS logic isn't quite valid from this approach...

^Neither would I^ I thought when I first say the 350 model, maybe this is what I'll get someday after the TL, but who knows? Is it really true that you can't turn off TCS or VSA on those those cars though??? That seems um, kinda weird for a track-ready sports sedan...

the GT-R in my opinion will be competiting with the likes of vette Z06s, viper, ford gt, ferrari f430, etc, while IS-F competes with M3, RS4, etc. In other words, the GT-R will KILL the IS-F for sure, no comparison at all.
