quick question about brakes

quick question about brakes

hey everyone, im planning to change my rear brake pads, and i was wondering if the E-brake for my 2005 TL uses drum brake? thanks in advance

They're disk brakes. The TL's don't have drums. The e-brake is linked to the rear brakes, which, as I mentioned, are disks.

I'm not sure if that's accurate for all TLs. Mine uses a small drum brake for the hand brake. The rear discs and calipers are hydraulic and linked only to the brake pedal. Somehow I think all 3G TLs are like this. Check it out.

Really? I could be mistaken, then...but, this doesn't affect the OP's need to replace his rear brake pads.

the rear brake pads operate against the disc in order to stop the car

INSIDE the center of the rear rotor is a set of mini brake drum style shoes- using the rotors center hub as their brake drum
Notice how wide that rotor hub is? thats why

Should not need adjustment too often and does not change the need for rear pads when those get low
Only an issue when replacing rotors and need to adjust park brake action to the new rotor
