Quick HID Fog Question

I converted my fogs to be HID (5000K), now I want them to be yellow. I heard that yellow tint would make the output to be greenish. So the question is, would these bulb LINK works with the HID kit? Thanks in advanced and I apologize if this topic have been discussed... I tried searching but nothing really came up.

On the side note, the reason I'm doing this because I heard that the yellow fog works better than the 5000K fog in raining weather, is this true?

Those bulbs wont work if you have an HID kit. The connection the bulb uses in the link you provided would only work with your stock harness. Usually with an HID kit the bulb should connect to the ballast. I'm not sure what size your kit is but the connections should like these.

6000k and yellow film will make them lime green.
Get yellow overlays/film and 3000k hid bulbs. Any set of HID bulbs will work with those ballasts.

you get the same results..

As Nate mentioned, no...the bulbs you're referring to are halogen bulbs, not HID bulbs, therefore, they will not work with an HID kit. If you want 3k yellow HID bulbs to go with your v-leds HID kit, you can swap out your 6k bulbs for these:

Assuming you're talking about D2S/D2R HID bulbs, they will not be compatible with his v-leds HID kit.

Thanks nate and ebelp for clearing it up. As for the V-LEDS one, I've been keeping an eye for it but they don't have those in stock for the past several weeks.

They had them on sale on Black Friday, but apparently they sold out quick.

Only the v-leds H8 bulbs will work with your v-leds kit. It's not universal like our headlights.

Yellow actually cuts through fog while white will actually make it glare or reflect back.

Did you need a harness for the fogs?

That's weird. I had my fogs installed today and they told me I didn't need a harness.

So after a while they start flicker? Why? How does the harness prevent it?

I had my V-LEDS 5K fogs installed last weekend and I've noticed that one of the lights has a hint of blue (looks like 6K). This doesn't make since I got 5K bulbs and it should be pure white (like the other side).

A few minutes ago I took a look at my lights and noticed the side with the bluish light was out. I turned the fog switch off then on again and it lit up again. I didn't install the fogs with the harness. Is this the flickering issue that you're talking about? Is there another reason besides the harness? Also, why is one fog white and the other blue?

The harness wires the HIDs up directly to your car battery. It should prevent flicker and alot of people say if you run HID's without a harness it's possible to fry or burn up your cars electrical wiring.

To be safe, it's always best to install HIDs with a relay harness. You CAN install it and get it to work just fine without a relay harness, but if any problem arises it could have probably been prevented with a relay harness.

Just think of it this way. If you have HIDs installed (Fog lights or head lights) it's possible something can go wrong or go bad or something gets damaged.. It's also possible that nothing will go wrong, bad or damaged...

If you have HIDs installed with a relay pretty much nothing should go wrong, bad, or get damaged... That's how I think of it anyways.

As for the OP.

Have you considered these HID bulbs?

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/HI...lacements-Pair

Only $15/pair... They are pretty inexpensive compared to other HID replacement bulbs I see other posters have linked...

I couldn't tell you the quality of those HID bulbs, but I and many others have had DDM HID kits in the past and some people are still running them and the quality on those HID kits are good for only $40! Not to mention lifetime warranty..

I bought the harness too. So I guess I'll have to install it.

Any guess as to why I have two different color fog lights?

Usually when you buy low-end (inexpensive) HID bulbs the colors sometimes slightly differ...When you get a pair of 5k's, 1 may look closer to 6k or both may actually look 6k. IDK what brand or type of HID bulbs you bought but that's the only guess that comes to my mind..

I have the exact same symptoms as you suprstar, and my kit is 5k from hid extra. I didn't use a harness, and sometimes only one light comes on at first. Seems to only be an issue if I leave my fogs in the on position x and then get out of the car. Next time I get in, the fogs don't work right until I cycle them. And one of mine seems to be 6k as well, it looks a little bluer to me than the other.

Do you happen to know if I can get a relay harness from anywhere, or if I need to get it from where I bought my fogs?

I also got a 15 amp fuse to put in as I've heard that it's a good idea.

I didn't have an issue earlier this week. Today, I left my lights in the ON position and had them come on automatically when I used the key fob. I usually don't do that but I just wanted see how they looked as I walked to my car :p

I'm thinking it has something to do with that. Anyways, I think I'm gonna install the harness just to be on the safe side.

KJ, I think you can get a harness from any source. The one I bought was from V-LEDS. It was $15.

I found this using the Search feature: http://atl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=827505

This explains why one of the lights went out. Also, another reason why a harness should be used. Screw that...the fogs stay off until I install that harness.

Thanks for the links suprstar, I've since turned my fogs off too. But instead of buying a relay I'm thinking about ripping the hids out and sending them back maybe. I feel like the hoen xenon match would probably give me the look I'm going for, and they are plug and play, with less risk I would have to assume. Plus I really don't like that mine look like different colors.
