Questions from recent Maintenance B - your input requested
Questions from recent Maintenance B - your input requested
I took my TL to Courtesy Acura in Denver yesterday for the "B" service. These guys have tried to overcharge me before, so I wondered if some of you could give me some input.
Total Bill - $125
Services - Oil, filter, drain washer replaced (total w/o labor $20)
"Service kit 3" - which a service guy told me is fuel injector cleaner and oil additive ($32)
Labor - 8 tenths of an hour - $70 (for B service inspections and maybe oil change time)
Tranny recall
How they "addressed" some known problems...
Tint - Clean your rubber gasket on the door
Seat (butt prints) - Use leather conditioner
Tires - May be able to help as long as you got your tires rotated every 3500 miles. (Does anyone do this????)
Any input from you guys? I'm particularly p/o 'ed about the "service kit 3". Acura doesn't call for this, right?
Also, my salesman was trying to tell me there is an A service schedule and a B service schedule, where A requires more frequent maintenance due to harsher driving conditions. (Denver???) I was under the impression that the Maintenance Minder was all I needed to follow.
Thanks... Ed

Can't you take acura's to the honda dealers? Thought they had "acura specialists" or some crap like that

Either take it to Honda( Ihave a lexus and they charge something like 200 for an oil change Toyota dealers are cheaper) or cultivate a local mechanic so you can get to trust him the only reason to take it to the dealer is for warranty work. They have higher charges because of higher overhead. I try and avoid the oil change places but the local mech shop still exists and changing oil and rotating tires is not rocket science.
