so over winter break, im gonna get work done to my 07 type s. im getting it debadged, blacking out the headlights, and installing a cold air intake. first question is, will a 04-06 k&n cai fit in a type s? i dont see why not. im leaning towards aem or k&n as opposed to fujita or injen. suggestions? more importantly, will this void my warranty? the aem website says it does not, but just wanna be sure. will blacking out and debadging to anything to my warranty as well?

it will void the warranty on that particular system... in this case the intake. But as I did on my last car, keep the old intake and if you have problems, just put the old stuff back on when you take it in if you can.

debadging will void nothing. whether you are buying blacked lights or doing it yourself, it has potential to void the warranty. My friend changed his lights ( think he added additional lights in the housing) and it fried his electrical system and he couldn't fix is under a warranty, but that was a Tiburon so go figure.

They can't void the entire warranty simply because you put blacked your lights if thats what you're asking, at least from my experience.

i've heard of Acura cracking down on debadging, so i would think about that before i did it.

nothing should void your warranty unless the replaced part causes the failure, in that case it would need to be proven that that particular part cause the failure...i think.

If you make a modification and a failure is directly attributable to that mod, then the warranty for that event will be voided.

If you install an Intake, for example, and the leather on your seats go bad - no problem with the warranty. One is not the cause of the other.

If you black your headlights, they leak and get water inside and that blows your electrical system - your tough luck. In this case the fact that you opened your headlight is the cause of the failure.

o yea and, i heard its not safe driving in the rain with a cai, the water from puddles can go up it or something?

Yes, it is called hydrolocking and it can happen even with the factory intake. This will only occur if you drive through puddles that are more than a foot deep as the CAI from AEM sits up near the head-light.

Yes, this is actually a law. I forget what the particular name of it was, but I know for a fact this is written in the law books.

They have to do testing and analysis to prove the part you put in (after market intake in this case) cause the problem. If they can't prove it, warranty stays in tact.
