This is a question for TL-S drivers,

But in no way meant to offend Non-TypeS owners, or to stereotype.

Have any of you guys notice that most youngNon TypeS drivers drive very aggressively when near you? I have had my TypeS for about 3 weeks and have noticed that about 75-85% of the younger TL drivers have tried to catch up to me from many car links back, been cut off, and even gotten very ugly looks.

Nobody even waves.

Where's up with the TL community?

I came from a the Subaru community. I owned an '02 WRX and later an '04 STi. There was no aggression/competition(?). The 2.5RS/2.5i guys waving to STi's and WRX's and vice versa. Real tight-nit.

What's up?

I've yet to experience anything like this. Most TL drivers around here are my age or older, and most of them are talking on the phone while driving, and therefore probably have no clue that I'm next to them

The "older" drivers are no problem. I'm talking about the 19-25 year olds. I'm only 23 myself, btw.

I know what you are talking about. I get that sometimes on the freeway. Nicely modified TL's and stock TL's with young drivers tend to try to overtake me while I am in my Type S. To me it seems they feel the need to establish their car is better or some sort. Oh well, I just let them have it, its just people with low self esteem wanting to make sure their NON S is better than an S.

I'm not accustomed to seeing young guys in TL's around here, most TL owners in my neighborhood are not modders or young (-30-ish). But most TL owners will wave, or honk when they see the TLS. They ALL look.
Also I do get a lot of BMW owners looking at the car...maybe speeding up or slowing down to get along side me. But they just seem curious...take a peek, drive on. Some smile or nod...most try to act like they aren't interested.
I've never been challenged yet, nor cut off. I agree that kind of behaviour would probably piss me off.

I am young TL driving and whenever I see a 3G I normally wave and honk and sometimes people are confused but once they see my car they understand. However I am not going to try to race them since I know a 3G would smoke my 2G.

in my area it is just a general observation that they drive very aggressively...doesn't matter if i'm in my TL or my winter beater. there is a reason why insurance drops in 1/2 when you hit 25.

I won't lie, I am 21 and I drive aggressive because for a good amount of time I am in a sea of yellow (NYC TAXI CABS)... if you've ever been in midtown you know what I mean, it is be aggressive or get eaten alive...

As for on the highways... if I ever see a nice car I zoom zoom to get a closer look... especially if it is a TL-S... shoot man nothing like rolling behind your fav car... especially if it is in the same color hehehhe

I don't mean to sound snobbish, but the bottom line is that the TL (or the TL-S) appeals to, and is purchased by, someone that would be "classified" as upper middle class.
Not many people in their 20's fall into this classification. People in that "classification" are also not the type of people that wave and communicate in that fashion. They seem more centered upon their own world, or on the cell as one person mentioned. As the price continues to rise for the TL, as will the need to have more disposable income to purchase it.
These are not my classifications, just the world in which we live.
Adapt!

I have had the same problem with mine, as a matter of fact yesterday I was parked out in front of a vets office (just cropped my bully’s ears) to top it all off and another TL started coming up slowly and just punched it as it passed by me I don’t want to knock the TL but come on.

What I have noticed that I get more of that from the scions, I don’t know what they are thinking, I just sit there and laugh.

no worries man, they were just trying to get attention: they WANT to trade place with YOU .. LOL

One of the reasons that I got a TL is that I can use the handsfree link function .... rumor says it will be the law starting next summer that all cars gotta use handsfree cell on the road ...

Same here.

TL's (non-Type S) are *all over the place* in this part of town - and for the most part, totally self-absorbed.

Drove up to Asheville for a day trip and didn't hardly see any TL's at all. It was kind of refreshing acutally.

I'm probably the youngest 3G TL owner on the forum.

<-- 18 years old.

I'll put in my 2 cents, I tend to drive a little more aggressively (looking for some fun I guess you could say) but I don't give ugly faces or give a negative gesture . It's just our nature :P.

It's already the law here in WA, or maybe just King County. Fortunately, it's not a pull-over-able offense, but if you're nabbed speeding, the police can jack up your ticket if you were also on your cell while driving.

That's one of the reasons I'm going with the TL, the built-in bluetooth. I'll probably have to get my wife a "fish finder" nav and handsfree unit, since she's probably keeping her New Beetle for another five years, though.

I almost didn't get the TL-S for this exact reason, but in the end I figure the resale push will justify the extra $$$. That being said, the road is a different place depending on whether I'm in my TL-S or my wife's MDX. Nobody ever tries to race the MDX, and with 300hp they're probably right not to...

I've noticed a lot of 40+ guys in old 7-series/A8's they clearly bought used always trying to race the TL-S. Absolutely bizarre, but Atlanta is full of those drivers.

that's weird, i think i have the complete opposite reaction.....i get alot of middle aged guys (i'm 21).....by middle aged i mean late 30's - 40's who see me in my TL and either tail me annoyingly close, or flat out just start driving nuts (i.e. if they're behind me, they suddenly swerve into the right lane, and start punching it.....

on the other hand, i see alot of lil kiddies..(granted i AM only 21) in their souped up Preludes, and always give me the thumbs up....and never seem to try anything with me.

lol, man, typing this just made me realized how f-ed up Saint Louis is LOL (at least in some parts) ~ god i miss New York

I'm pretty oblivious when I'm driving besides paying attention to the road and my surroundings. I could care less what other people are driving, 3g or any other car.
