Question for TL-S ATLP Quad owners!

I am getting my ATLP exhaust in the mail on Friday and I would like to have it installed ASAP. How does the stock TL-S exhaust break apart? Is it possible to just put the stock exhaust back in the ATLP box? I'm asking because I would like to go Excelerate to have it installed but they're about 1.5 hours away from me; so if the stock exhaust can't get back in the box, im not sure how I would get it back home.

The only thing that comes apart is one of the mufflers, the other is one big piece. Are you gonna keep the tl-s exhaust? Cause if your gonna sell it, chances are the buyer only wants the mufflers so you can have Excelerate install it and then cut it down so you have just the mufflers. That will definitely fit in your trunk.

No I want to keep the stock exhaust in case I get rid of the car I can take the ATLP off. So it's just the mufflers and then one longass pipe?

i think people have slid it through the opening in the back seat, and then just put a bunch of towels and stuff down to protect the leather and dash and stuff. but i have never done it myself.

congrats on the new exhaust

No.
Just ONE muffler... which is, I believe, the passenger side.
The other muffler is attached to the rest of the exhaust piping.
If you want to keep it.. you'll have to cut it into various pieces.

Yeah, the driver muffler bolts off.

The passenger muffler, mid-muffler, resonator, and all the piping are one longass piece about ~15 feet long.

Wait, so you're having Excelerate install your ATLP exhaust.......isn't that a conflict of interest for Josh?! Kidding......enjoy the exhaust.

I'm in a similar situation as far as wanting to keep the stock exhaust so a friend of mine with a truck is coming with me to our other friend's place for the install. See if you can get a friend with a truck to go along with you.

Don't think the piping is 15 feet long....but you might be able to fit it in the trunk and through the back seat to the dash...your best bet is to find someone with a SUV to help you, haha.

an SUV might not do the trick---
You'll need someone with a pick-up-truck.

in all likely hood an SUV will not do the trick. Unless it's an excursion or another big one. I had my ATLP installed several months ago. I figured I'd use my wife's 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee to take the stocker home. Getting it in the jeep was no problem. Closing the lift gate was. I ended up cracking the windshield on the jeep. I was only about 2 inches short on room.

This is the only way, chop it up and it will fit in the trunk. I was able to put all the ATLP stuff in my trunk with the longer pipe going thru the armrest. The box it comes in is way to big, so removing the pieces is the only way to transport other than a truck or SUV.

Looks like im gonna have to get it done locally then. The shop I go to is really good but like I said they charge thru the roof. My friend has a pickup truck but I don't think he'll drive to CT just to take the exhaust home for me.

Oh the box wont fit in the back seat? Damn. I was planning on just not even opening the box and just bringing it to the shop. I know I know, you should always open something to make sure everything is there, but I trust Mike

i got my stock exhaust from my 06 TL in a jeep grand cherokee... twice... to bring home from the installation, and to swap off the comptech after i wrecked..

it fit fine, the 3rd cat outlet laid by the radio/hvac controls.. while the one muffler hadda hang out of the open tailgate.. i actually scratched the paint on the jeep doing it

for the TL-S, my mechanic dropped it off at my house in his F350

Dude switching out the ATLP with the Stock exhaust takes 10 mins on a lift. Dont drive over an hour to switch out your exhaust! Its a bolt on exhaust so the old one comes off and new one goes on. Ahhh I remember the first moment I turned my car on with the ATLP........music to my ears. Ill probably hear that type of beautiful sound when my kid is born !! hahaha
