Question regarding NEW transmission (rebuilt)

Hi guys,

So I finally got my TL back two days ago from the shop (new rebuilt transmission, new front engine mount because it was broken). It all costed me 3ks, guess that wasn't bad at all, especially after talking to some of my friends. Anyways, since now I have my car back, it just doesn't feel right. Everything feels so heavy, steering, accelerating; I'm not sure whether it's because of the rental car I drove for the past two weeks or so while my car was at the shop (Ford Fusion, v4 much lighter and slowwww) or there's still something wrong with my car.

Anyways, my mechanic told me to take it easy for awhile because of the new transmission; hence, I've been driving cautiously and haven't even crossed 70 MPH on it yet. I'm not pressing the gas pedal hard, just letting the car pick up speed slowly instead of accelerating it like a maniac. I'm just afraid if I press the gas pedal hard, I might f&&& up something again because I still remember very vividly what happened two weeks ago (was speeding and boom all of the sudden my car started slowing down and wasn't responding to gas).

Nonetheless, just wanted to ask those that have had the same issue and had to get a new tranny. How did it drive for you after installing new transmission? Just let me know please!...

Perhaps it's just all in my head, but please feel free to share your thoughts

I can't really help you about your transmission question but i just had to let you know that there isn't such thing as a V4... Correct term is I4 (Inline-4).

It's really bothersome to me when people say V4 lol I just always have to correct them! Not tryin to be an ass

most likely you have gotten used to the loaner car and forgot what the tl is like. Heavy and hard turning. But solid. You will remember it again soon Glad you have it back! What are your car specs and what happened to the tranny

Was it properly diagnosed in the first place? Are you sure it's not the app sensor? Transmissions, especially rebuilt transmissions do not require break-in. Drive it how you normally drive it and see if it still feels different.

The odds are slim to none that a v5 would ever exist. 3 on one side and 2 on the other presents some major balance issues that the mounts would not be able to suppress.. An inline 5, sure, V5, it would be the first time I've ever seen an odd number of cylinders in a V configuration.

V5's existed. Honda had them on a motorcycle.

Oh and Ford had a V4 in some of their european models years ago.

But yes, the Ford YOU drive was an inline four

So I've been driving around as normally as possible and I'm not sure how describe it but I'll try my best...

Firstly, I got an alignment and it fixed the heavy steering problem and it feels great now!

Anyways, back to the problem, it doesn't happen all the time when I'm accelerating, but it does every now and then. Whenever I'm trying to pick up speed it skips gears or the gears would go down. For instance, if I'm trying to pick up speed and the cars in 2nd or 3rd gear; it'll all of the sudden drop to 1st gear and whenever it does that I feel the skip and it's kind of scary :/

I guess I could've done better at describing the problem, but I hope I got the point across :P
