i was trying to get use to my SS mode. So i i was going about 80 miles an hour. when i shifted to ss. and i noticed i was in 5th gear. so i went down to 4th. and it boosted to about 4 or 5 rmps from the 2 that i was going. so i stepped on it to see if it picked up at that speed. and it did. And i change to 5th again. but my retared ass didnt notice how fast i got to. and slowed down a litlle and then went back to 4th. and then back down to 3rd. i must of been maybe at 90 somethig. maybe. and the rpms went to about 6 then i accelerated a bit to see if i could get more out of it from downshifting again.. and BAM my damn MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP starts blinking. it blinked for a while maybe about 8 or 9 times and then went off. and i then went to 4th, and 5th. Light never came on again. Was that like a warning. Like saying . calm down buddy. you almost red lined me. or like i said. i might of gotten right to it. before i went to 4th.. any opinions.. is this someting that i have to take it to dealer. or what?

some one told me to get to know my car, to practice on road and see what each gear tops out at before redline. that way i know where i can down shift to. But i am in the learning process. any tips?

 

TL has a rev limiter. If you had exceeded safe limits for the tranny or the engine, the command computer will cut the fuel. The car will exibit a jerking motion as if the car is trying to accelerate and then applying the brake. It's all detailed in the owner manual.
