Question about Sportshift

Hey, quick question about the sportshift in the 04 TL...
In my 03 TL-P, you have to stop the car before you can slip the shifter into the sportshift gate which I found to be a nuissance (i found this out through the manual). However, the new TL's manual doesn't specify anything about this... so could anyone tell me if i can put the shifter into sportshift while i'm driving.

You don't have to stop the 04 TL before entering SS mode. That is the way it was in my 01 CL-S as well.

Yes, you can change between the auto and sport-shift modes while under way.

BTW, what's a TL-P?

TL Premium. E.g. not the TL Type S.

On the highway, I shift into sportshift to lock the gear into 5th, so as I speed up and slow down the trans doesn't slip in and out of 5th gear. I have noticed 24 mpg city doing this.

This is very interesting notion of using SS mode...
