Question on '07 TL-S headlight functions...

I just bought the TL-S yesterday. I'm confused because I was reading the manual and it talks about the delayed shut-off of the headlights after you close the doors, but mine turn off the minute I turn the key to get it out of the ignition. Am I doing something wrong with the settings? I know most other luxury brands have it set where the headlights turn off after a minute or something. Can someone help me? I have the light set to "Auto" so shouldn't it be on even after I turn off the vehicle at night? I know this is newb question...but thought I'd still ask... Thanks in advance!

Btw, I love my new TL Type-S!!!! I can't wait 'til it's completely broken after 600 miles...I got auto because I work in downtown Los Angeles...

IMO it's kind of stupid how the lights work...when you have them on auto the lights turn off as soon as you take the key out and won't turn on when getting into the car until the key is inserted.

The headlight function you're talking about works only when its set not on Auto but the ON setting...with this the lights turn on as soon as you unlock the car and will stay on for a short period after you get out and lock the car

I believe that is setup in the multi interface thingy. You can choose how long they stay on or not at all.
That works in the standard on position. These functions don't apply to the auto-on function. Dumb.

Thanks! You know, I had a feeling that would be the case. So, which mode is best for the headlights? I thought the delayed shut-off prolonged the life of the bulbs...so if I can't have that function with auto, it really is stupid. lol!

Guys, I know this is off topic, but the manual says the correct way of breaking in the car is to drive to about 600 miles before revving the engine hard. In addition, the breaking should be light to about 200 miles. Would you guys recommend a thousand instead for the engine?? ...I can't wait to redline this sucker, LOL!

That's not a dumb question. I was actually wondering the same thing. (I guess that doesn't mean it's not dumb though...) The MID allows you to set the delay time, but the auto setting shuts them off immediately. I will have to try the 'on' position.

So, does anyone know which setting is best for the headlights? I've tried the headlight "ON" option and yes it stayed on until I locked the vehicle with the remote....

I'm thinking auto because you dont "waste" the xenons and dont need to change the brightness of the instrument cluster /navi screen for day/night time...on the other hand I like the look of the ON with lights on all the time but then you have to keep it on MAX bright during the day and unclick it at night so its not too bright (this is regarding the interior lighting)

Going the "On" route keeps the headlights on after you disengage from the ignition, but once you lock your vehicle with your remote, it turns off with the beep. Now, the cool part of this setting is that when you unlock your vehicle with your remote, it turns back on the headlights and interior lights!! Nice to show off at night, ahaha! The only reason why I'm staying away from "On" is because we have DRL's!! Blah, hopefully someone could shed some light to this stupid ordeal.

I agree about the headlights being kinda "funny" between the auto and the on. Normally if it is at night I kick them to ON if I know I will be coming back to the car at night. If I am getting out of the car for the night and won't be back until the morning I leave it on Auto.

Now for the Daytime Running Lights you can find threads on here about taking the fuse out so they don't run. I really dislike DRL's so I just pulled the fuse and I don't have them anymore.
