Quality Problems

I just picked up my TL 2 weeks ago and here are the issues I have. Are these normal?

1. Hesitation starting, and sometimes doesnt even starts. It sputters on.
2. Popping noise coming from driver side front wheel housing on specific turns.
3. Rattle coming from driver side sun visor
4. Headliner sagging on back 3rd break light
5. Creaks coming from center console
6. Passenger side rear reading light not working, actual housing not clickable
7. The screw covers on the front passenger side grab handle keep popping off by themselves

My 2002 Maxima has been flawless since day 1 and it was almost 10K less.

Please help!

1, 3, 4, 5, a few TL owners have the same or similar issues
2, 6, 7 do not seem to be right, bring you TL back to your dealer.
My A/C was completely not working 2 weeks ago. Dealer spent 1 week and 2 days to replace the entire A/C system. My 00 Accord never fails on me on anything while it is close to 50k now.

I'm sorry you guys are both having problems with your TL. I guess maybe I'm lucky because I'm on my 3rd TL and haven't had one single problem with any of the cars with the exception of some acid rain damage to car #2. It was NBP and got caught in a shower one July afternoon, then the sun came out and burned spots into the paint. I don't blame Acura for the spotting, although they were very responsive and offered to repaint the hood and trunk which I declined since the car was new, so they threw in a free Comptech exhaust to make me happy. All I can say is I'm sorry you are having such bad luck since my experience with all 3 cars has been great.

Normal. You have to put the key in Ignition II (you will hear "shih" out of your engine bay while doing so) for a while, then start the car after that sound is gone.

2. Popping noise coming from driver side front wheel housing on specific turns.
If you talk about "thump" or "flap" sound when you first drive your car, it's Normal. It usually happens once around 10 MPH after your car has the long rest.

3. Rattle coming from driver side sun visor
It's the common issue, your dealer should be able to adjust/fix/replace it.

4. Headliner sagging on back 3rd break light
Dealers are still searching the way to fix the front headliner, which may drop after a while. However, dealers should be able to assemble/fix 3rd brake light cover, which may cause the reflection at night.

5. Creaks coming from center console
Unfortunately, rattle/squeak are quite common in this car.

6. Passenger side rear reading light not working, actual housing not clickable
Dealers should be able to fix/replace it.

7. The screw covers on the front passenger side grab handle keep popping off by themselves
Dealers should be able to fix/repair it.

I just noticed over the weekend that the headliner cover on the third brake light on the back of my car is also sagging badly when the interior of my car gets cool or cold (6485 miles driven). I was very surprised to see this so I will have to contact my dealership (Columbia, SC) to have this repaired ASAP!

I will also need a few paint chips (one on the front from a rock hit during driving on the interstate which is exposing almost bare metal and a bad one scratch/chip on the rear bumper from having to replace two tires that were punctured from driving over a construction bolt and a spike while searching for a new home with my wife...be very careful with the factory tires because they are sit flat against the road and, therefore, can be punctured more easily by trash on the road...especially near construction sites!). It seems that the scratch/chip on the rear bumper is due to some really bad handling of my spare tire by a Firestone/Bridgestone dealership mechanic in Columbia dropping my spare on the top of the rear bumper . I could have challenged these guys about the damage to my wheels in the rear as well as my bumper but I knew they would have just denied it big-time. Note to myself: next time let Acura change/replace tires for a slight premium in cost and be safe of mind in the handling of your car by responsible mechanics .

I have also noticed a few popping sounds from my dash and/or front pillars of my car from time to time as I drive around. It's not really bad but you would hope that your car you spent $33+ for would be better built (but mine car was a early production VIN #). Anyone else having problems with popping noises coming from their dash and/or front pillars?

3. Rattle coming from driver side sun visor

I had this when I first got my car and discovered it was a bit of dumb engineering on Acura/Honda's part. The small mirror light lense and the mirror cover are touching each other when the sun visor is folded up. Two hard plastic pieces lightly touching each other is not a good thing for a vibration environment like a car interior.

Anyway, don't worry too much about that one because it seems to go away completely after a few thousand miles (mine did). I don't know if it just rests or sits better now.

Yes - and they are very consistent and are driving me crazy. This is a joke and should not be normal or something consumers have to just accept. I have yet to discuss this with the dealer as I am waiting on parts to fix other issues. Looks like there are not many people who want to talk about the lack of quality in the construction of this car or I just got a really bad one

I picked my 04 tl dynamic up on christmas eve. on christmas day the glove box rattled and rattles ever since on and off! the car pulls to one side as well, although i don't actually think the alignment is off. the drivers side door trim was in properly, it look slightly warped. they replaced it but while installing it they let me know the titanium trim was defective. i finally got another door panel. it has the same problem as the original. these are all little things though. the car is solid. the engine, bluetooth phone, and stereo are awesome and working well, so far!

All you guys having problem what are the last 6 of your vins. I also understand your frustration but there are first time accord owners that have a zillion little problmes to and tell how great there chevy cavailier was. I have a 2000 f 150 and made phantom popping noises I took it to the steeler at least once a week and got a nice loaner while they tried to fix it. I know this is a pain when you pay 30k plus but this is to be expected when a new designed model year comes out. If the service manager wont help tell them your calling the better business bureu and the district rep this usually gets them working for you. If it doesnt call the rep every day untill something gets fixed. hope this helps
