Put a Deposit on a 2007 TL?

I was planning on buying the 06 TL until I visited a few dealers yesterday and was told that the color and model I was searching for has been sold out and their last shipment of 06 TLs with Navi was two weeks ago.

After reading the new changes in the 07 TL, I am beginning to think that I should just go ahead and spend more to buy it. My question is, should I put down a deposit to reserve one? Is it true that since this generation of the TL has been out for a few years, I should not see to many problems in the 07 TL? and is it true that it is almost impossible to bargain on the price of a new 07 TL when it first comes out?

At this point, I would just go with a 2007 TL. It has some nice upgrades...can now play mp3's and wma's, touch-start for AUTO, real-time traffic, etc.

I don't think I would put money down, unless you were looking for an 07 Type-S. Those might be in limited supply when they are first released. The standard TL I'm sure will be in adequate supply. I understand the standard TL will only have an automatic transmission, and I remember reading that the Anthracite color has been deleted for 07- I don't know if this is accurate. They will likely have a different type of Carbon Gray color though.

I don't think you will be able to deal much when the 1st of the 07's come out. If you wait a few months, there are usually end of the year incentives that might drop the price a bit. If you want to pay less for an 06, try Carsdirect.com or some other buying service. They might be able to find what you want in the color of your choice. I don't think I would take the word of just 1 dealer telling you there are no more TL's available, and I'm sure there are plenty of each color (although you might have to pick an alternate color or take a different color interior).

I usually buy my cars in the 3rd or 4th year of production- by then most of the bugs have been worked out. I have an Anthracite 06 and the car has been great (only has ~6K miles on it though).

you will def pay full sticker on an 07 ($36,xxx), whereas you can get an 06 leftover for $31,500 if you do your homework.

your your buying a non type-s, you are paying alot of money for the new interior.
if you want the type-s, i can justify it, but $5,000 for an 07 TL-P seems like too much.

Not sure where MC82 is located but Houston and Dallas should have a fair supply of 06 TLs....

I am debating the same issue, 06 vs 07. I like the new transmission in the 07 and may wait. Hopefully the added competition of the G-35, BMW 3 series coupe etc..may force dealers for TLs to an early off MSRP move.....however, if no 06 like you want, I would just wait rather than a deposit...

as stated TL non-s should be easy to come by.... 'some' of the 07 additional cost 'may' be recovered at sale or trade in if mileage is in line...???

Buy '06 or Wait

I just bought an '06 WDP 6M Navi for $31,400. I paid less for this one than my '04 used with 14k mi! You have to look around or make the dealer do it for you. They had to ship the car in from out of town but they still wanted the sale. It's your call. I also told them I wasn't paying dest & tow to get it there and the finance mgr said he wasn't going to charge me either. Go figure. They got it from me somewhere I know. Anyway, I finally got what I wanted and picking it up this week.

I am a bit concerned about dealers swapping cars to get you your color combo. First, when they swap, they tend to swap the less desirable cars (for example, cars with minor appearance flaws and those that have been sitting in the dealer's lot much longer for whatever reason). Also, if it is not a dealer stock car, some dealers may even disclaim any liability for the swapped car (such as minor dents or damaged bumper that was repaired). So, for me, I would rather take a stock car than a swapped car, particularly if the color combo is not too objectionable.

Acura dealers won't be able to charge sticker on the '07 TL (non S-Type) for too long unless they want a whole bunch of '07s on the lot. It's not the next-gen TL.

Well, he doesn't state if it was or was not including taxes. Navi or not, he could have got a great deal. Now, I do doubt it is not including taxes, but I guess we will wait for him to post.

A year ago you were able to get the 05 cheap and had to pay MSRP on the 06, so in a year from now, you'll pay invoice or less for the 07 and MSRP for the 08.

You can't justify $5000 for base TL but can justify $10K for type S?????

Unless you're an alias, you may want to let dmfgrf answer the question. And just for shit and giggles, yes I was born yesterday. I'm the first person in history to drive a TL at 1 day old.

That's why I asked the question, but according to ndabunka, we were born yesterday...LOL

TL-P = 06 TL with updated headlamps, interior, diff rims and a few other differences.
TL-S = new rims, bodykit, exhaust, higher hp, tailamps, suspension, interior..almost a new car.

if i were in the acura market again, i would not buy a TL-P, and wouldnt even buy a TL-S for that matter. at least the TL-S has alot of improvements for the $10K, $4-5K above base. Think of it like adding an a-spec package to an 06, which many of us have done.....that runs about $5k from a dealer.

your dollar for dollar best car will now be the 07 G35 sedan. acura simply missed the mark and came into the game too late with the TL-S.
TL-P = 258 hp
TL-S = 286 hp
G35 = 306 hp

he is talking about putting a deposit down to buy an 07 NEW car, not putting a deposit down to buy a leftover a year from now

He can put a deposit down and pay MSRP now or wait a few months and get a much better deal. It depends on whether he needs to have the first ones avail at a premium price, or wait a little and get a better price.

I agree the 07 G35 seems now, to be the best bang for the buck. I think Acura may have made a critical error. Although G35 is complete makeover, so may have some bugs to work out, we will have to wait and see......I think the next six months will be very interesting......

A few of you mentioned that the price for the 07 should drop pretty quickly. how quick is quickly? Does anyone know how long until we were able to buy the 06 below MSRP?
