Its only cool if you don't have to insert the key in and turn it half way. Cuz if you have to do that much then.. what's the point. If I can get it the way it on my GS... where you just hop in and push the button with the fob in your pocket.. that's worth it!

Thats one feature I wish the 07/08 TL's came with is the keyfobless entry with push button start. Love never having to touch a key or key fob. My C6 vette has that and its great!!
Would love to hear more about this and if its possible in the TL. Im willing to bet its not as im sure that system is fairly complex in the new TL's so I wont hold my breathe over it.

Look at the bright side.. 07-08 have one touch start.... 04-06 you have to crank......

Put the key in.. turn it all the way.. let go.. car electronically cranks... no need to hold key in that position.

I think he means for the 07/08 models, you don't need to crank to start. You just need to put in the key and turn it and it will start the car automatically.

^ I find this feature absolutely retarded...... It only prevents over cranking.

We are still going thru the motion of starting the ignition...

But then again, every time I try to start another car, I fail.. I expect it to crank itself, lol.

Ahhh... HA! I still hold it until it cranks out of habit. Had a 92 Accord before this, so I have jumped 15 years in technology. Gonna have to try this!

Even if you hold it, the car ignores your input. The moment you hit III, it knows to crank itself.

Just start the car as you normally would, but never hold it to crank it. Bring it to ignition..and let go...

Agreed with the others, push button start while requiring you to insert a key and turn it is moot...If it was like the infinitis with the RF chip and you can just keep the fob in your pocket...thats awesome!

Yep, I miss my FX only for that convenience, especially when my hands are full of grocery bags, and I have to dig in my pocket for a remote to open the trunk. Only to open the trunk .5 inches...as mine does not open further...

But all of the disappointment goes way when I hit the gas lol

Why would that be retarded? Sounds like a good thing if you ask me.

When I had a 4G TL as a loaner it had the push button. Very weird having the car unlock itself as I reached for the handle, and then just having to push the button without taking the key out of my pocket. Hell, take the chip out and keep it in your wallet! You would never have to carry the keyfob either!

I think it's a cool feature! When I show it to people, they are envious that their cars doesn't do it.

Haha... listen Mr. Sunshine.. I'm not hatin on that.. I genuinely think its retarded. I am envious of the 07-08 models for primarily 2 things:

1. Slicker Gauges (Prefer the Base ones over the TYPE S)
2. Improved Nav/Tech stuff especially XM Nav Traffic <--- I'd use this like no other where we live.

I'm definitely not too envious because you guys get to take your hands off the keys .0383749 seconds quicker than me....

Come one guys.. it wasn't meant to start a battle between 04-06 and 07-08.
They both have their pros and cons.......04-06 has a sexier body style by that i mean, the smaller mirros, better front a-spec......the 07-08 has a nicer nave interface, higher resolution mid, and we can go on an on... they both hot cars...

I was just statign.. "look at the bright side"......

Looks like you still need to turn the key to the on position....so this is pretty much for astechic value only?

ehh its not worth it. When I had my S2k it was more of a pain than a pleasure. If it were more like the g35 where you dont have to put a key in it would be worth it.

My cousin has a 335i with comfort access and sometimes we swap cars for a bit and Ill tell you their system is great.. Ive used it a whole week without even having the key charged, but if it were necessary, you just stick it in the key slot and it charges the battery..

I wish they gave us this rather than the one touch and flip key for 07+

I was unaware that the 07-08 TLs had tip-start in them. Next time I get one in for a remote start I will try something that works on GM's with it. In those cars, once the car sees ignition and accessory and acccessory drops, it cranks. Don't even need to hook up the starter wire.

I was a huge fan of the s2000 push start a few years ago. Needless to say, S2000 is my dream car, but it isn't very practical. I actually enjoy cranking the engine up now in my TL, it just gives me a sense of satisfaction manually cranking it up instead of pushing a button and having it roar into life by itself.

I'm thinking about getting a keyless entry/ignition system from Advanced Keys:

http://www.advancedkeys.com/

I actually want the knob and not the button.

Anyone try Advanced Keys?

Hey, at least it's not like the MazdaSpeed 6 where you get the keycard and it does unlock when you get close, but they were still dumb enough to put a plastic crank nub in the key spot to crank start the car. If they went thru all that trouble, y didn't they just fit a button instead of the knob??
