Pulsating brakes...
Pulsating brakes...
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have this problem: brakes start to pulsate when very slowly letting off the pedal. This only happens when the car is rolling at less than 1 mph.
I was thinking that it might be warped rotors but the pulsating is not present at speed, only when rolling very slowly. Also, the pulses are not felt through the steering wheel (which is typically a sign of warped rotors) but through the brake pedal itself. BTW my car is a 5AT with only 1600 miles and the brakes were never abused in any way. Any thoughts or feedback would be much appreciated.

I think you have a run-out problem or the beginning of rotor warping - I would very quickly get your torque wrench on all the lug nuts and check for accurate torsion. Excessive and unequal torque on the lugs pulls the rotor hat, and can lead to warped discs in a short period of time. Once you get the lug nuts properly torqued, have the technician check the run-out with a dial indicator. If it is excessive, they should turn the rotors ON THE CAR for best results (most quality dealerships have this equipment). Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help. I talked to a friend also with an '04 TL and he concluded that his car does the same thing. Both of our cars were torqued to spec but I have no idea about run-out (have no clue what it is). Now I'm curious as to how many of you have this problem and is it normal?
