Pulled the trigger on a '08 TL-S KBP

With the supply of Type S cars dwindling down quickly, I decided to pull the trigger and trade in my 06 TL w/navi for new Type S. I could actually buy a new Type S for less then I paid for my 06 2 years ago. Originally I was waiting to buy a new ’09, but that new grill design is hideous. Maybe it will look better in person.

I loved the Kinetic Blue Pearl color with ebony interior, but could only locate a few KBP’s with taupe interior within 250 mile of my house. So, I went with the taupe. I was willing to drive further then 250 miles to pickup, but feared all the Type S in the color I wanted would be gone in the next few weeks.

WOW, the steering in the Type S is significantly tighter then my TL. Not sure how much I like the red interior lighting…actually preferred the blue in my 06. The quad exhaust is SEXY….Love it.

Here are a few pics. She’ll be at the tint shop on Monday for Formula One tint and clearshield on the front.

One nice clean beast right there ! The wait is over for the 09 TL as the exterior portions do screaming ugly loud & clear ... once you put your tint up, taupe or ebony shouldn't be too noticable from outside ... but the driver always knows LOL .. congrats ...

Sweet......glad you were able to find the KBP that you wanted and a great deal to boot. I had a friend buy the same color that same night I bought my WDP. We were both dealing at the same time. Congrats on your upgrade!!

Nice! Are all amber reflectors that short on the TL-S? Looks like it was cut down a bit.

Would you mind telling what they gave you for the trade?

I don't mind.

I traded in my 06 TL w/navi with 46K miles for $19,600. That gave me an additional tax advantage of $1,274. The car was in great condition...slight wheel curbage from the wife's driving, paints chips on the hood and front bumper from normal driving, small ink stain on the passenger seat. Not a single dent on the body.

KBB had the trade in value at ~$19K and edmunds at ~$21K. I could have sold it local for $21K-$22K, but didn't want to deal with it. The trade in value and what i paid for the car is what I expected. I paid $32,150 +TTL for the Type S car. I think I got a great deal, considering I paid almost the same $ for my 06 in Sept 06 and now have a Type S.

TLAdvanced, Did you see my reply in the Wheel & tire forum?
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/08-type-s-wheels-tl-civic-684984/ if you would have never replied to the thread, I probably would still be driving my '06. I don't think I have ever seen a KBP locally and fell in love with your car when I saw your avatar.I told my wife it's your fault that I bought a '08 Type S.

Palm Beach Acura. I also bought my 06 from them. They had another KBP, but it was on the showroom floor. They had painted pinstriping on it. Plus, I would never buy a showroom car....could you imagine all the hands that would have touched that car or how butts sat in the drivers seat?

I unfortunatly had to buy my KBP out of the showroom when I traded in my 06 too....it was the only one that they had in stock. Thankfully the pinstripe on mine was just tape...and the woodgrain kit they put on it came off easily. I went over the car carefully and the only thing I found damaged was the drivers door panel, which I made them replace.....showroom cars ftl

Congrats on your purchase!

I have a 07 TSX-NAVI that I am handing over to my wife

and... for less than the TSX07 I am upgrading to the TL-S 6 speed (black interior) same color as yours, I will pick it up on thursday. ;-)

besides the SuperHandling, the 09 didn't inspire me much.

So beautiful; those pics remind me that I need to wash mine right now while the sun isn't out much. I had an 06 TL and traded it for 07 TL-S a year ago.... I was kicking myself cause I shoulda just waited to get the 07 so I am negative but not so bad :o
and 4th gen TLs are out of the question for sure; gorgeous interior but nasty exterior

Congrats Aceman! I do love that color and Formula One 20% tint all around would look perfect. Yeah, it looks like you got a pretty good deal. Hey is that Dodge Ram yours too?

I'll go with 15% on the back and 35% on the front with Pinnacle. That is what they offer and it's legal here in FL.

Yes, that is my 05 Dodge Ram 1500. Yes, its got a HEMI. My wife drives it most of the time and I rarely drive it.

I think you did the right thing. With the way the 4G looks, the 3rd gens will be very valuable for a long time, especially the type s.

Good deal. I've got Pinnacle 15% all around and my interior in black so it looks much darker. Probably a good idea to stay legal, especially since I got a ticket a few months ago for speeding and the cop also gave me a ticket for my tint being too dark.

Nice selection of toys you have my friend. My other ride is an 05' Titan so we are going to be sharing the same platform in 2010 since Nissan and Dodge are teaming up to build the next 1/2 ton.

Sorry, it's an Auto. I haven't owned a manual in about 4 years. Wife doesn't drive one and has no desire to learn and she drives my TL when she meets with important clients. Plus, I don't drive as aggressively as I did 20 years ago.

Now, If I had bought a M3, that would definetely be a manual.

Congrats on the new ride. Purchased a 07 KBP on 11-07-07 with the Ebony/Silver interior. Agree with ingear6, you will get stares and looks all over the place. Great idea to get 3M clearguard on the front, called 3M Stone-X here in Atlanta, will save your front end for sure. Enjoy!

Congrats from a fellow KBP owner. I still love my car 1-1/2 years later.

I loved seeing your car all new and shiny... mine is showing a little wear from daily use but still shines up pretty good.

Enjoy your ride.

i bought my car off the showroom floor where it sat for 6 months...

there are upsides to having your car on the showroom floor,

it never sat outside in the sun and rain
it never had some idiot with a power washer and a towel scratching it all up
when they wash down the lot every week.....

my car showed no signs of wear and tear after sitting on the floor for so long, besides i didnt have a choice either, and you will learn to love the taupe interior....

That's the good news^^.
First thing I would do is get a bottle of Purell hand sanitzer and wipe off all the interior surfaces and seats. You never know????
