Pulled over......

Well, driving home from a job in Chattanooga, TN today and the 9500i worked like a charm, the guy in front of me slowed down really quick and the cop just outside of Atlanta, GA didn't like the distance I had between me and the car in front. He was really nice and he just gave me a nice warning. In my experience on being pulled over (I have had my share) it is always advised to be as nice as possible. Anyway here is a picture for a laugh and a very short video of it as the cop came out of the car and I shut the camera right down.

Video..............

If that was in Cobb County, I'm surprised you didn't get a ticket. I guess kindness begets kindness.

It's a pleasant surprise when a cop is nice and it does occur occasionally. I got pulled over on a TX highway going a little over 80mph. The guy gave me a warning. I was so grateful because it would have been a hefty ticket.

If people can get pulled over for DWB, you sure can get pulled over for ACTUALLY doing something wrong.

Good on you J! Last time I got pulled, I got off with a warning too (I-85 N near Greenville/Spartanburg in that dumbass 60 MPH area).

NJ is one state that the radar detectors are legal. I should know, I have been pulled over three times in that state. The state cops use X band which I find very strange! At least they did 3-4 years ago. Have they graduated to laser?

Yeah, some of them do. Probably State PD. At least, Friday on Route 80!

The problem is, even though the detector will warn you urgently that they're using it, since it's a narrow beam, if you hear the alert it's because they got YOU. So if you were speeding enough to get their attention (9 mph over), they're gonna get you.

Radar is easier for us -- the wide beam could be hitting someone else's vehicle.

Meanwhile, the other radar-related gripe in Jersey is that some traffic signals use X-band microwave signals to detect if there's a car waiting for the light to change. Translation: annoying false alarms at certain locations (and too strong a signal to suppress with City mode!)

I figured they had to use laser at some point in time. Laser is a down right killer. I complained to escort because the cop had laser and not a word was spoken from the radar. They told me, I didn't get hit. The next week, I got hit but I had the location stored in memory, so I was safe as can be. The only way you are going to beat the laser is to know where they sit. Otherwise you are gonna get your ass pulled over. Gotta love the 9500i for that feature.

mmade22.... have you seen the twin turbo blue 350Z around town that's been pulling cars over left and right? In case you haven't seen or heard about it, just be cautious around that car.

VA and DC are the only places where radar detectors are illegal. In VA it's an $85 fine with the possibility of confiscation. Very cool you came across a nice cop there are a few of them out there who actually do their job the way it should be done.

I remeber several years ago when they used to use mustangs as bait cars in Virginia. They used them for the longest time on this one particular strip which is basically a complete straight away from Chesapeake, VA to Nags Head, NC gets alot of tourists too because the speed ranges in select zones from 45 to 65.. I hate when there are constant speed changes... it's tough even for the damn locals.

Yeah, like Chilidog, I watched that on the news. I saw that and said there is no way I would think that is a cop in that car. I figured it was only a matter of time before they got smart and did something like that. I would love to see all the young kids coming up to that thing and trying to race it. Try talking yourself out of the ticket.

They had a highly modified Mustang doing just that on 485 a couple of years ago (seized from a street racer like the Z and the other car).

EDIT: video was slow to pull up...seems the Mustang is the other car I was referring to.

MMADE22 laser is the #1 killer. I had the 8500 can the radar did say laser but i guess u was going to fast (100mph) towards the laser that i still got caught. The 9500i has the wonderful feature which is why i'm still debating V1 or 9500i
