Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, I've had 2 Integra's and currently drive a RSX-S but I'm selling it because I need something a little bigger and I love the TL.

Basically, reading everything here has freaked me out a bit, dash's are cracked, everyone has interior squeaks but the most disconcerting is the vibrations at highway speed. I've had 3 Acura's and none of this sounds like the quality I've experienced.

So my question is this: Should I be so worried about the vibrations and other problems that I not get one?

I'm currently looking at 05-06 with AT transmissions. There's one I found for 14k out the door with nav but it has 76k miles and the used car place selling it says there is "tire" vibration at highway speeds. I can spend about 17k out the door, 18k max, but even for that price, I can't find any others with nav and less miles in central Florida. Nav isn't that important compared to mileage and price... so what should I do, how do I ensure I don't get a TL with the highway vibrations? Thanks in advance.

TL's seem to be pretty sensitive when it comes to balancing tires and such. You typically have to have a Roadforce balance done to get the vibes banished. GL!

I guess your best bet is to test drive the car at highway speeds to make sure there are no vibrations. Of course your going to read a lot of problems, but these are being experienced by a small percentage of the owners. Chances are your TL will be just fine. Good luck with your search and welcome to AZ Good to see another FL member......

Test drive the TL like you would any other car.
Then have the TL checked out by a mechanic and/or body shop if neither you nor friends have any automotive background (i.e. don't know how to spot repairs, repaints).

Most of us here on AZ are obsessive, meticulous and problem-conscious, but the TL generally is less troublesome than most cars. The TL's rating in Consumer Reports and other used-car guides are amongst the highest, so you're less likely to run into a troublesome TL.
TLs without squeaks, vibrations, exploding trunks, cracked dashes, flaming tires and self-destructing steering wheels are the rule rather than the exception.

If someone's car has tire vibration, they should be able to easily pay for tire rebalancing or replacement for a bent wheel before selling the car. I wouldn't buy any car with a vibration unless I was able to fix it beforehand (or it was a parts car).

Welcome to AZ.

Cool, thanks for the info guys, LovemyTL-S, I love the long exposure profile pic.

I was just concerned because the car already has vibration issues according to the guy, unfortunately, it's in Tampa which is about 2.5 hours away so it's going to be a sad drive back if it doesn't work out, haha. But you told me what I needed to hear. Thanks again

Thank you. Another member took that pic. He's a camera buff. Anyway, sounds like the dealer was honest about the car which says a lot about him or the dealer. Again good luck. You may want to look here:

and of course the AZ black market has members cars for sale.

Couldn't find an '06 that had the mileage/price I wanted, so I got a non-nav (I prefer Garmin anyway) 05 TL with 44k on the clock. Thanks again for the help, here's a pic I took of the car:

I think you shouldn't be too concerned with those problems. Only a very small percentage of TLs have cracking dashes or vibration problems, but you will always hear about it on forums such as these because people are more likely to complain when they have problems than when everything is fine.

Most cars have at least some rattling/squeeking, it's just more noticeable on the TL because it's a higher end car so people don't expect it to have such problems, but the rattling in my 04 TL has been less noticeable than any other car I've owned. It seems to come from the sun visor and the sub. Actually every car I've owned has had at least some rattling problems. I don't have any vibration issues. The AT transmission issue is only a problem on 2nd gen TLs and some early build 04s, if you're looking at 05-06 TLs I wouldn't worry about it.

You got a solid car for your price range. I opted not to get the Nav to get color combo/price I wanted. Hell, yours is just broken in (mine runs better now than a year ago when I got it).

Congrats!
Congratulations! You won't be sorry. I have an 04 that had some rattles when I bought it, but I killed some and the dealer's service department killed the rest. The most annoying rattle I have now is from a bottle of water in the cupholders. If I lived in Florida I would be sure to use a sunshade in the windshield and 303 regularly (I do that anyway). As far as I can tell everyone who has reported dash cracks lives in the Sunbelt.

Yeah - I bought my 04 about a month ago.

I live in Texas & I started slathering the dash in 303 every couple of weeks after I found out about that "issue". It looked a little ashy in spots in the beginning, but they're about gone now. I also do the back seat tops & headrests then too, as they catch as much sun as the dash.

The only "rattles" I've noticed are the compartment doors in the console/dash stack. It's not so much a rattle than an occasional buzz. Noticeable because the rest of the car is so quiet...
