Programming the remote transmitter/keyfob 3G Garage #L-079

Once again....revival
Okay...so i read through all the posts and I did not find a clear answer to the following issue:
I lost one of my keys. I ordered a new key (and remote in one; '08 TL) and successfully programmed it. I now have 2 key remotes that unlock/lock the doors. I need my new key cut still. Do I need it "programmed to the immobilizer" so it will start the car once its cut?? If so, can only the dealer do it, and how much will they charge me?
Thanks to anyone that can answer this!

My remote lost link to my car and when I tried to customize the vehicle settings it would not let me (I was still able to lock/unlock the car though), the guys at the dealer had no clue what to do so I just went home. I tried what Ron A. had suggested but that did not work.
I held down the lock and unlock button for about 10 seconds. Then it allowed me to customize my settings again.
Hope this helps anyone else.

This worked for me.
Within 1 to 4 seconds for each line 1 - 7;
1. Turn the ignition switch ON
2. turn the ignition switch OFF.
3 turn the ignition switch ON
4 turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. turn the ignition switch ON
6. turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. turn the ignition switch ON
8. Confirm the door locks move
9. Press the NEW transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.
10. press the lock or unlock a 2nd time. verify you hear the actuators move a 2nd time.
11. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.
12. wait 5 or 10 secs, then test proper operation with the new transmitter.

yes the key need to be cut and the immobilizer need to be program to you car... and u may find other shops than cut keys and program them.. i have a 05 tl and i have places around that cut and program the key for 90% cheaper than the dealer. so until u get that key cut and program the only function that u can use it for is to unlock and open the door with the key remote function.
I recently lost my last set of key + keyless remote. So at the moment I have zero. I can get into my car because it's on my driveway and the sunroof is open.
My question is: Can I just go to the dealer and present them with all the necessary information: VIN, key code, etc. and have them cut me the key so that I can unlock/lock my car?
Then using the instructions provided in this thread, program the key fob/transmitter myself?
Or would I have to listen to my dealer and tow the car there + pay $240 for a new key cut with programming...
THANKS..

no they can get you a key per VIN and your info and you can then program the keys yourself following these instructions...That is what I did and even though they will try to feed BS saying only they can do it!! Good luck

i'm trying to follow the instructions on how to reprogram the remote for my 07 TL. i'm getting confused when i'm instructed to turn the key into the on and off positions, and then aiming the transmitter towards the dash. how is this done when the key is in the ignition?

Since this thread's been revived does anyone know how to program a 'non-fob' key?
I have an aftermarket 2-way alarm transmitter that's about the size of the blade key and would like to have a smaller non-blade key on my keychain to reduce to it's size and weight.
This is the key in question:

Anyone have info on how to take apart key fob to swap out key blade? My key fob was "run over" and transmitter case came apart. Fob still works but I want to buy a used one on ebay so I would need to swap out the key blades if that's possible...Thanks

So I tried this and dash still asks to link to memory, but my keyfob works...
How do you link the keyfob to your memory seats to either mem1 or mem2?
My fob doesnt even have 1 or 2 behind it.. this could be the problem AND i think my door actuator is broken because it doesnt always open or close when using the FOB or the lock and unlock buttom..
Sorry I am a noob and just picked up a 06 TL and trying to get everything to work how it shouldve out of the show room!
Thanks

"Make sure you store your desired driving position in the memory that is activated by the transmitter you normally carry.
You can turn off this driving position memory activation. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. The LED in the remote transmitter will blink twice. Then release the buttons.
Doing this also cancels the keyless memory settings for that remote and restores the default settings.
To turn it back on, repeat this procedure. The LED will come on for 1 second to indicate the feature has been turned on."
If you don't have them, the owner's manual and Navi manual are on-line at: Owner's Manual & Warranty | Acura | Acura Owners Site.

Try using the procedure described by Ron A in post #4 to program your remote.
You can then program the seat, mirror, audio and climate control presets and link the remote you have(Driver 1 or Driver 2-- it'll say in the MID).

Quick question: have a 06 TL and I'm looking at a 04 TL that is totaled and being sold for parts. If I get a fob from another car, I will have to re=program it I assume? Also would my old fob need to be reprogrammed as well?
Also if I get the physical key from a 05 TL, would it work plug and play so to speak in my 06 TL? Or do the physical keys have some kind of security embedded thats unique? Someone mentioned taht each physical key has some sort of chip?

You can reprogram the fob from another TL to work with your car.
One caveat: if you have a Driver 1 fob, get Driver 2, and vice-versa, if you want two different driver control settings via remote fob. Unless worn away, the fob backs will have different part numbers.
The existing fob does not need to be reprogrammed to work with your car if it works now.
Each physical key has a security chip which must be programmed to work with your TL's ignition-- that can be done by the dealership or a properly equipped locksmith.

Cool thanks Will !!! On the remote however theres a Big round button at the very top. Then below theres 2 circles. One of them is a button teh other is just a circle but you cant actually press it. Is that normal ? There isnt a trunk button its an 04 TL.
Also when i enter the car it says Driver 1 detected. But the remote still doesnt work when i press any of the buttons. Ill try programming it tomrorow thanks.

On the OEM remote, there is a 4th triangle-shaped button centered and at the bottom of the remote which is a panic button. Some aftermarket remotes do not have that 4th button.

DAMN! My keys were stolen (along with wallet, phone, etc.). My car was locked, in the garage. Had to have a tow company tow to the stealership. They want $130 for the key and $130 to program. $260 for 1 ****'ing key!?!! Ridiculous....ass holes!

Hate to revive an old thread but are there any instructions as to how to un-program a remote? Got a fellow member that had gave one of his FOBS to another friend and after programming it to the new car it locks and unlocks both cars at the same time.

Here's a tip in case anyone is having the same problem I was...
I have a 2007 TL and got a replacement key fob. The dealer linked it to lock and unlock the doors, but I could not set any of the "Keyless Memory Settings". When going to that menu I would get the message that said "Customizing Not Available Until Linked to Remote".
I followed the steps in #4, but still could not customize the keyless settings.
After playing around for about a half hour, I finally figured out that if you press and hold both the lock AND unlock buttons AFTER completing all the steps in #4 (after linking the remote and turning off the ignition), it links the remote to the memory seat settings...and apparently this is somehow linked to the "Keyless Memory Settings". Press and hold both buttons until you see the tiny red light on the remote turn on and go off.
I can now access all the keyless memory settings. I wish this was in the owner's manual!

This worked for me to link the remote to the car...
Mine is an MDX though and somehow my NORMAL KEY everyday used got unlinked from my MDX somehow. I did the steps described above and it finally linked again. .
