Unhappy Problems with sport shift mode (5AT)

Hey guys...

I like to drive in Sport Shift mode whenever possible on my 2004 automatic TL. I'd appreciate quicker shifts but oh well you can't have everything.

Twice now, when I've been driving and shifting more aggressively, I'll look down only to see that the gear indicator no longer shows what gear I'm in. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Sport Shift mode gets turned off altogether and just remains in full automatic mode. Heh heh... it's almost like my baby is telling me "that's enough, dude... I'll take it from here".

I've tried switching back and forth from "D" or "P" back to "M", but to no avail. The only thing that makes it work again is restarting the car.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

It sounds like the switch/microswitch for the SS function needs replacement.

If it is under warranty you should take it to the dealer. Let them pay and have the headache of dealing with that type stuff

if not, anyone know how to get access to a wiring diagram?
