I was just looking at the excellent pictures BigBluu posted of his new ABP/QZ TL, and I noticed something troubling. In one particular pic of the seat, there was a CLEAR difference in color between the real leather of the seating surface and the leatherette of the rest of the seat. I highlighted the area in the pic below. I'm not sure if this effect is just exaggerated by the flash, but I was wondering if current TL owners could take a closer look and let us know. I'm curious to know if all the interior colors exhibit this difference.

Also, if anyone has had cars with a mix of leather and pseudo-leather, do the different materials age differently (i.e. does one fade quicker than the other)? I just want to be sure the car does not develop a two-tone seating surface after a few years...

 

With age, you can start telling the different surfaces apart. I have an all black interior, so the color difference is not noticeable. I don't think the color will change that much with age. If you don't take care of the leather, it will crack and become shiny. When this happens, the differences textures between the leather and vinyl become more evident.

I noticed on this new TL, the vinyl feel is a lot better than the old models. It actually feels more like leather.

 

Which parts are vinyl? Is it only the sides and backs of the seats? Is there that much vinyl? I have to say that on the 2000 TL I was dissappointed by the vinyl that they used in that it was even on the seating surfaces at the edges of the seats as well as the sides.
