Pricing on rear brakes

Hi guys, anyone know how much the parts are on the rear brakes? I'm sure this has been covered but I do not have the time to look over all the threads. Cost of the calipers, rotor and pads? I have a feeling i need new brake setup in my rear since I am getting this metal screeching noise whenever i drive idle going about 5-10 MPH and my service advisor told me my pads are almost gone and I need new rotors because of rust. I was suprised because I thought the rear brakes are not primary brakes so it wouldnt get used up as much. Is this normal? Did anyone have to replace their rear brakes before they changed out their front? also i have a 6MT so i use my engine to brake alot.

Thanks,

Won

So you want someone else to do the work for you? In the 25 minutes that you've been waiting for a reply, you could have done a search and got all the info you needed. You're not a newbie...

Sorry, not gonna happen... make an effort rather than another brake thread....

Sorry, I was at work and didn't have the time to do this. If you can't get me the pricing that is fine, I will look later when i get home but was wondering if this is something normal for the rear brakes to go out before the front. I just can't understand why my rear pads worn out faster than my front.

No, it's not, especially with 6MT/ TL-S calipers. Rust isn't necessarily a reason to replace rotors. What was the thickness they measured on both the rotors and pads? I doubt they even measured them, just trying to upsell a product. Typical dealer trick.

Get a spec for thickness from them. I'll bet they won't have it because they didn't even measure it. When you get home, search the other brake threads. I've posted the specs many times.

If you really need rotor and pads, it's an easy DIY with many examples in the Garage. There also is a Group Buy from Brakemotive in the Group Buy forum.

Stuck caliper???

That'd cause excessive wear.

actually dealer gave me an estimate of 1mm on both rear pads. They said my rotor needs to be replaced because its rusting and ever since then my brake got worse with sound. I'm not sure if they did something to make it worse but after my visit to the dealer for a simple oil change, I get news that i need new pads in the back along with rotors and had to replace new tires because of uneven wear which now i have to get a allignment for.

I went in for an annual state inspection ($30) and walked out with an estimate for $2200 worth of work - tires, shocks, battery, etc.

1/2 of it was . The other half was over priced.

IOW - just because they say it, doesn't make it true.

I had/was told to replace my rear rotors at my last oil change. For some reason they were rusting and pitting. Also needed new brake pads. The front pads/rotors are fine tho.. kinda weird IMO.

I did replace the rotors. Bill ran about $500, but that also included some other work too (filters).

pads and rotors shouldnt be much pads run about 30-50 usually and rotors 100 and up depending on what you want as in slotted and drilled and so on, these are jsut base estimates though, to be completely sure sjut call around or check websites, all dpeends on waht you want, as for them wearing out fast in the rear thats wierd, make sure your parking brake is disengaged, i still ahvent replaced my pads or rotors yet since i bought this car
