Pressure Switches and Transmission Filter
Pressure Switches and Transmission Filter
Hello All,
Recently I read a few of the posts here on the forum regarding replacing the second and third gear pressure switches and the transmission filter located under the airbox. Unfortunately, I am not mechanically savvy nor do I have the tools to complete these seemingly easy jobs myself, but rather, I will be either going to the dealership or an independent shop.
I know this isn't recommended maintenance from Acura specifically, so how should I go about relaying what I would like done at the dealership? I know the job will probably be significantly less at an independent shop, but I'm not exactly sure where to go since this seems to be an easy job for people who know Acura/Hondas. I have a feeling if I go to a random independent shop they may quote me high because they don't know how easy the job really is.
If anyone has any suggestions of shops I should go to, I'm located in the Chicago West Suburbs.
Anyways, I know this probably seems like a dumb question, but I just want to make sure that I get the best quality service at a good price without compromising the job itself.
Thank you!

Update: I'm also asking this because some people had the dealership come back and say "well we don't recommend you doing that" or "that's unnecessary maintenance". During my last time at the dealership, I inquired about getting a transmission fluid drain and fill and was met with some opposition They believe the fluid looked fine even though it hadn't been done for three years. I trust what they have to say, but all of you have way more experience with the Acura maintenance department.

Google your local area for an independent Acura/Honda specialty shop, there is bound to be one in the Chicago West suburbs. They will probably be more open to what you desire and won't cost as much as a big city stealership.
Just make sure whoever does the work for you gets the OEM pressure switches from Acura / Honda.
Good Luck!
