Powersliding with e-brake

How bad is it mechanically for a 3g TL to be doing e-brake power slides at low speeds? Yes I know it's a "luxury" ish car. Also, is there a difference between dry vs wet ground. I'm assuming less stress on wet?

Wheel bearings and flat-spotted tires are what you should be concerned about.

Why would you be doing e-brake turns in the dry or wet?

I did it once in a snow covered parking lot. My co workers seemed to like it.

Funny you've mentioned that. I've had friends do that before. They drove Civics.

Nah it's great, the factory service manual recommends doing a couple power slides once in awhile to test if the ebrake is working as it should

PROS:
- can be fun/entertaining

CONS:
- wear out brake shoes
- stretch cable
- may be perceived as an asshat
- VSA will go mad (just disable before playing)
- flat spot tires
- potential to hit something
- potential for a ticket

Not sure how the wheel bearings will take any wear/damage unless you hit something. But anything is possible.

Doing this on wet roads will "probably" cause less wear on the tires and make it easier to accomplish since the tires should slide easier. I haven't done this type of thing for quite some time. I think I would be a bit concerned doing it in a car as heavy as the TL as well as expensive potential repairs would be. The last car I did this in was my Z-24 which was quite a bit lighter than the TL as well as quite a bit cheaper to repair. It also used the regular rear brake shoes for the e-brake which made repairs simpler. Even then, it was mostly only in the snow, a few times on wet pavement, and never on dry pavement.

Why didn't you just buy a RWD car?

A FWD car is not for sliding. So don't do it.

OP, sell your TL, you don't deserve to own it, even though it is very rare to have a TL with an emergency brake. Buy a Civic and put a fart can on it.

I never asked for opinions, I asked for the mechanical/technical problems that can and will happen over time. No answer? Don't post. If you don't know why I'm asking, don't make assumptions. Simple as that...

No one cares if you asked for an opinion. You post you get opinions. Do you know how the internet works buddy?

Just keep it slow. We all know what happens if you hit 45mph... ask Paul Walker.

You might also want to check your grammar before posting. Plus, I resent being called average, I am way below average, but I am smart enough to not powerslide my TL.

Lol ricer forum is right. Just for giggles though I'll tell you (OP) why we're um, amused. We're not being assholes, you're driving a nice car and we have a lot of member's who do some awesome stuff with these cars.

You call it power sliding when there is infact no power involved. Its a fwd. No one will be impressed. If you knew anything, anything at all about cars you'd know the answer to that question, and the fact that you don't tell's us you're pretty inexperienced at driving and are likely to hurt yourself, the car or others in the process.

Your question alone is pretty childish that tells us a lot again and the fact that you really shouldn't be behind the wheel of that car.

Then you say that and it just pisses everyone off since you did get helped by a couple member who typed up really coherent responses. If you're planning on driving like a 16 year old then stick to some junker. Otherwise you are going to get some interesting feedback here...

Trolls roam free on the interwebz but you just trolled yourself good on that question.

Google could've answered that question in a second.

Hahahaha is this the same OP who started that thread a few years back about trying to show off for his friends at high school and wrecked his TL in the parking lot. Then he said he'd just call the dealership and tell them he didn't want the car anymore because it was damaged so he's just going to return it and get his money back?

Somebody PLEASE post a link!
