power steering noise, recall has been done

when i start my 04 in the morning there is some whining sound that goes on under the hood, it changes tone as the wheel turns left or right which leads me to believe its something to do with the power steering. either the fluid is a little gelled in the morning or something like that, once the car is warm it goes away. didnt have the problem in the summer but with a few cold mornings recently i am remember it also happened last winter. anyone else familiar with this?? i have had power steering hose recall done along with wiper motor several months ago.
any help is appreciated. thanks.

its not fluid temp problems~ gellied- where do you get that info!!!

First- put a small piece of cardboard under each front wheel- makes it easy to turn them

Now start the car and slowly turn the wheels to full lock and hold for a few second- now all the way to the other lock- repeat a few times
If there was air trapped, its out now
Otherwise drop by the dealer and ask if its normal or a PS fluid change will help?
Dont know if they replace all the ps fluid with the hoses- likely... just top it up and send it out

WTF!!! dont blow a fuse there myusername, i dont think he was trying to insult you he was just trying to offer a helpful suggestion. how about you just say "thanks" instead of bashing the first person that posts. with only 28 posts and 01tl4tl having close to 12k, i would listen before you start calling people names.

Usually noise is caused by air. I would have the dealer take a look at the o-ring that they probably replaced. It's easy to cut them or pinch them when installing. Visually check the fluid in the reservior to see if the fluid is aerated (there would probably be tons of very, very small bubbles). If you have no luck with the dealer and run out of options, Amsoil now makes a synthetic powersteering fluid that's compatable with the Honda system. I don't know how cold it gets in your area but one of the biggest advantages of synthetic fluids is they flow better when cold. You may give that a shot as a last resort but I bet it's not the fluid.

my mom always told me "Don't bite the hand that feeds you".

01tl4tl's advice is spot on. whirring noise in the steering is caused by air in the lines. By locking the wheels several times and holding it for a few seconds, you will purge the air from the power steering system.

Instead of reacting (incorrectly) to his statement you should thank him for the FREE advice he took time out of his life to give you.

Actually.. no I am not sorry.

don't weigh in unless you have input to the problem, which you obviously don't, just another co-signer, i suggest you hold up before you end like some of these other people with no life.

Get rid of the attitude. Consider this a warning that we will not stand for this type of behavior, and that goes for sending PM's like those posted above.

I am considering a permanent ban, or at least a long temporary ban, but according to our moderator's rules I will post this in the Moderator's Forum and get some opinions from my fellow moderators.

Myusername has been banned for 1 month. The ban will lift on 13 October at 2PM.

As soon as the ban is lifted, he must send a PM to blkaspec and Trew apologizing for his behavior. I would appreciate it if you two would forward a copy of his PM to me for my files and so I know when it has been done.

Failure to do so will result in a permanent ban.
