Power steering hose recall and wiper motor recall

I was just wondering how many of you guys have had the power steering hose replaced along with the windscreen wiper motor?

I refuse to take my car to a dealership. So they said I can pay for the parts myself then they'll reimburse me for the parts but not the labor. I told the lady absolutely nobody works on my car besides me; so I don't have to worry about the labor charge.

Basically, yeah, but I was wondering if you had any issues before having it done? Because, I've had absolutely zero issues, and my car is 9 years old.

Nope but I've seen more than a few cars leak P/S fluid from the affected hose. I understand what you're saying but it's free service. Find the most convenient dealer or look up reviews for Acura dealers in your area. It won't be too bad.

The nearest Acura Dealer is 2 hours away. So, that's out of the question. I'm just going to go to the local Honda dealer, and buy the parts and get reimbursed.

My sister works at a BMW/Mercedes Benz dealer, and the warranty/recall work is done by some none certified ASE tech. That's why I never go to car dealers.

It's hard to find a dealer tech with ASEs these days. Especially someone who has been working there for a long time, they just let them expire cause it's pretty much useless once you have the job. Unless the employer gives them an incentive for having ASEs.

I know the dealer my sister works at actually pays for certification along with sending the techs to get trained on the newest technology. Also, one of my good friends from when I was a kid has the same setup, and he's clearing $70,000 a year.

I had mine done by the dealership , its really not that big of a deal to let them do it . Im the only one that touches my car as well and just take pictures before you drop the car off and before you leave you look it over , if you find a provlem tell them before you leave . Simple

I've taken my car in for the recalls mentioned
I've taken it in to see if they'd cover my cracked dash and bad bluetooth unit
I've taken it in to get my new tires mounted/balanced (rims off car).

That's it...

for the recall, I'd let them do it though...they don't charge anything for it.

I am with you on not wanting the dealership or anyone for that matter to work on my car. But for this particular recall I would let them do the work. Put it this way. The recall is because with the hose leaking it can cause FIRE DAMAGE. You do the recall yourself and for some strange reason the hose still leaks or you don't do the job right. It is now on YOU not the dealership or acura.

Good point, but the last and only time I had my car at a dealer my clutch stunk, they ground 1st to 2nd gear because the short shift kit. Plus, I could hear them beating on it. Oh, and they broke my key off in the ignition and refused to fix it. So, that was a PITA to get the blade out.

The lady at Acura Customer Care said as long as I do it myself, and show a Honda tech that it's been done they'll consider it up to spec. Then if anything were to happen they'd cover it. Surprisingly, she was actually very helpful.

Last week my PS hose started leaking and I suddenly saw a scary blueish smoke coming from the engine bay. Popped the hood, found the culprit, called Acura, and brought it in approx 18 hours later. They had it fixed, along with a new wiper motor, in about 2 hours.

Can I try to convince you to just relax and let them handle it? They're not two of the most vital parts, so I can't really see what else they would fuck up...?

I'm not really worried about them fucking anything up. It's just that I've only let 2 other people drive my car, my sister and my best friend of 20 years who owned an e46 M3. I just don't trust anyone I don't know driving my car.

Also, like I said earlier Acura said I could buy the parts, and they'd reimburse me the cost. Plus they said if I had a tech scope out the repair that'd make it so I wouldn't be liable if anything were to happen with the power steering hose.

I also don't have to spend 2+ hours at a dealership.

Well you guys convinced me to just take the 3hr drive to Hendrick Acura in Charlotte, and just have them fix it. I could go to Wilmington, but their reviews are horrible. I could also go to Charleston, but after the Service Manager treated me I'll never go there if my life depended on it.

I would get that in writing with a signiature from someone very high up as Acura as a company will tell you to kick rocks if your car catches fire after you perform the recall yourself. I am willing to bet my life savings on that.

After reading a master Acura tech said it takes nearly 2hrs to do the power steering line, I figured I'd just let Hendrick Acura handle it. Plus, I've heard a lot of positive reviews.

Go to this website, and enter your VIN. Then it'll show any recalls you may have open.

http://owners.acura.com/Maintenance/Recalls.aspx

The wiper motor is only for 04 and 05, but the power steering is for 04-08 minus the I believe the 07+ Type-S manual trans.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My Sprint 3g is slower than a 14.4k modem, no joke.

Unfortunately it's my nephew's day, and I have a bunch of family coming in so I can't do it this weekend. Let me know if you're going to be around that area anytime in the near future. We can meet up and talk UA6's.

when i did my power steering hose recall, the acura dealership gave me a loaner for 2 days. it was a 2012 tsx fully loaded with tech package. i drove the hell out of it for 2 days testing everything out. and the gas in the tsx was free I'd gladly let that dealership take my car back in anytime

Why you guys only doing this now? I had the steering hose and wiper motor recalls done way back in 2008.

They never sent me the recall notice to me in the mail. My dad cosigned the loan, and his name was the name they used to sent everything, but when I moved from Ponte Vedra Beach to Palm Beach Gardens I never forwarded his mail. I just found out about it when I tried to get a goodwill consideration for my POS HFL unit.

just ask for a loaner Acura dealer usually lazy to do these type of work right away, I brought my TL into the dealer at 8:30 a.m and the car wasn't ready until 7:30 p.m, I told the adviser make sure there is no corner cutting because I will check the work after ward. I got the car back next day, got home jack the car up and looking under and from engine bay the replacement looks clean, brand new bolts also like the manual said to be replaced.

I took mine to Stevenson Acura in Wilmington last week to get my recalls done. I had been in Cali for a month and when I got back the wipers either werent working or going extremely slow. I called and made an appointment and took it in last tuesday... Of course when I get there the wipers work, so they didnt replace the motor, they just put the worthless snorkel kit on it... The recall says to inspect the wiper motor and if theres no corrosion, not to replace it. I doubt they even inspected it... The next day I got caught in a rainstorm and the wipers crapped out completely, so I had to drive back down the next day and they finally replaced the wiper motor. I wasnt happy about that, but Ive never seen my wipers move so fast now that I have the new motor in.

I had the power steering hose done at the dealer. I had no issues prior but it was free so it was for me. My car didn't fall under the wiper motor recall.

Maybe yours was made later in, but here's a little blurb about the windscreen wiper motor.
