I have a 2007 TL and in my opinion the light from the smog light is weak. For sure compare to the xenon light it's normal. But they are not powerfull or is it just mine ?

smog light? you mean..fog light? I have 05 TL...I know the placement of the lights are differnt but they all serve there purpose. The fog light are not mean to be as powerful/bright has HID or headlights, cause to see through the fog, only low light can emit through. Bright or HID will just reflect.

But when i have my foglight on..i do notice i get a wider spread of light on either side of the car.

Fog Lights are designed to give a flat low wide spread of light that helps you see the white edge marking lines on the road- oddly enough those lines original name is Fog Lines!!!
If you can see the edge- you are not as likely to run off the road, and with diffuse light ahead- not relecting bright white back into your eyes, you hopefully can see the truck ahead of you.
On our 2 lane wide fogbound freeway, you will find me in the left lane- watching the yellow line on the left and looking for cars darting out from the right lane

yes it's fog light, sorry for my bad english.


I know the purpose of this light, thay need to be low, near the ground. But compare to other brand of car they seem to be dimmer. I have to wait for snow storm or fog to see if they are very usefull
