Power Mirror switch light question

I have searched all over and tried to look at many different interior pics of the TL without getting confirmation of my thought. Does the L Off R and picture of the mirror light up? I am guessing they dont but wanted to check.

95% sure they don't. They don't in my TL or in the TLs I looked at while trying to buy one. Plus with the LED conversion thread he never changes any blubs there so I can only assume there are no bulbs.

They do not light up. In your picture your lights are functioning as they should.

The letters are painted on white and not translucent, so no. I'm sure you can retrofit it to do so though!

sure it'd be possible. but it'd require drilling out the button and putting some kind of clear vinyl with the same logo so the light can shine through. a lot of work for very little gain

Thanks guys! I was trying to adjust the mirror the other night and was feeling around for the switch and was like why didnt they light that part up. No big deal though and I am not wanting to mod it to get it to light up.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Like paperboy said, those letters are just printed on. How do you imagine you can somehow cut out every single tiny letter and illuminate it? And even if it was possible that would be a ton of work just to illuminate a small mirror switch which on the TL isn't even really visible from your normal driving position as it's hidden behind the steering column. And with memory feature it's something that you set once and never touch again.

I actually use the switch a decent amount. I dont like the mirrors moving every time I back up so I keep it in the middle but when I am parallel parking I switch it to the right. I am paranoid about curb rash so I want to keep a good distance from the curb.

As other stated, those function does not illuminate and it would be quite difficult to get them too.

Why do you want them to illuminate anyways, its not something that will be used often.

AND
one less light bulb to worry about when these tiny fluorescent bulbs go out.

I never said that I wanted it to be illuminated. I was just making sure it wasnt supposed to be illuminated and stating I use the switch more then maybe others do.

By asking if they are illuminated or not. As stated earlier, they are not. What I meant by my statement since you asked, is why would you need these to be illuminated when so many other drivers really don't fiddle with the power mirror switches. From your reply tells me your in a small minority of owners who use the switch more than the average TL driver.
The suggestion for attempting to illuminate them would be difficult.

Trust me I wondered if they were illuminated when it was time to replace all the burnt out bulbs, but a search on google gave me the answer I was looking for.

^^^ dude, he already stated that he is not suggesting, asking, or attempting to illuminate those switches. The point of his post was to find out if he had a burnt out bulb or not. IMO it's a perfectly legit question, because if your new to the TL and see the VSA switch and mirror position control button illuminated, then directly next to it no lights at all, it raises the question of should this be illuminated.
It was someone else in the thread that suggested you could likely illuminate them if you wanted, which multiple people including myself already said no you couldn't. The OP already got the answer to his question a while ago in this thread.
