Power adapter in Armrest

Ok, what I thought was a bad power cord for my cell phone, turns out that the power adapter in the arm rest only works when the headlights are on. I had the dealer fix the light in there some time back, did they mess up or does this only work with the headlights?

Thanks,

Greg

I agree with VTEC, it works as long as the key is in the ACC position

key on...

Agreed, only works with key in the ignition and on to at least ACC. Same is true of the power outlet in the storage bin under the stereo stack.

Thaks for the info. I will have the dealer fix it.

Second question to make sure they fix it right, does the light in the armrest console work only when the head lights are on or is it on when the keys are in?

Thanks so much,

Greg

I thought there was only one power outlet, which is located in the radio/navi area in front of the shifter? Theres another one?!

Yep. Inside the 2nd compartment under the armrest.

I sure wish the outlets worked at all times. It's very frustrating when my phone is dying while I'm at work and I can't simply plug it into my car while in the office to let it charge. My Ranger has power at all times and it seems so logical to me that I can't fathom why they don't do it on all cars.

I am more bored than rets and I can prove it. I just checked. The light only comes on when the parking/headlights are on. The key doesn't have any effect on it.

Cool! I never even knew we had a light in the center armrest. Must have gotten used to not going in there at night because my other lamer cars didn't have one and it was impossible to find anything at night

Was designed by a little Japanese fellow named Yehudi, who, coincidently designed the first light switch for Frigidaire refrigerators. Had a really cool time testing it!

Dealer says it's about a $165 bill to rewire the stereo stack power accessory socket to stay on all the time. I did it on my G35. Did not ask about the armrest socket 'cuz mine wouldnt close with my cellular power cord anyway.
