Potential buyer...considering pulling the trigger...

So after browsing some threads, I can already say this forum looks to be quite informative....but at the same time it may cost me some money by looking at some of the mods people have done.

Anyway, I've been considering buying a TL-S for about a year, but have put it off waiting to see the 09. Well, after seeing the TSX and RL get butchered for 09', my hopes for the TL has gotten shakey. Therefore, I may (especially with .9% financing for 48 months or 2.9% for 49-60 months) make this purchase a reality soon.

So my main question is, why the TL-S over the standard 08' TL?

I am currently leaning towards the white diamond pearl.

- its not worth driving a wdp unless its a TL-S
- nav is standard
- fake carbon fiber interior instead of fake wood
- it will make you better looking and grant you good luck
- the quad exhaust is purty

Obviously the engine size and HP output is different and some styling, but is it worth the extra money?

Blue lights or red lights for the interior. Personally I don't think the red looks that good. The blue rocks.

I think that blue interior lights are the only thing I would have preferred for the S.

The gauges on the S are still blue though, correct? At least according to photos of the S interior...

Ok I have to ask where are you getting those financing deals? The financing right now is the only thing that is making me wait a little bit longer so I can have the last bit of my bills paid off. But I'm worried I won't get the color I want so if you know somewhere offering those deals I'd love to hear where.

To me the aesthetics are too important. Red lights or not, I think the S is for me. That seems what the main topic is in all the threads posted above. I don't want to make any mods to it aside from maybe new wheels and a drop...if even that.

From Acura's website:

No PA though Plus I heard it can be difficult to qualify for acura financing specials most the time. I have a clean credit history, so hopefully I would, but I am unsure. I'd love to do it for 48 months to get the 0.9%.

FULL DESCRIPTION AND TERMS

Special AHFC A.P.R. financing available on all new 2008 TL models. 0.9% APR financing for 24-48 months and 2.9% APR financing for 49-60 months available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Example for 2008 TL: 0.9% for 36 months financing at $28.16 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. Dealers set actual vehicle sales prices. See participating dealers for details. For well qualified buyers. Not all buyers may qualify. Higher rates apply for buyers with lower credit ratings. Available only to residents of: CA, NC, SC, TX, IL, GA, VA, MD, DC.

My understanding is that you can no longer get the 6MT on anything other than the Type-S. To me, that alone would be reason to go for the Type-S were I in the market.

That's why I prefaced my second sentence with the words "To me." Anyone who flames anyone else for his choice on this issue is an arsehole. You're spending the money, so you should buy what you prefer!

go with the TL non type S if you want to go for looks.
i went for performance and looks.

I'd choose the basic because
1. it's cheaper
2. you can get the same outside mods done (exhaust, kit, rims)
3. you'll look better than a TYPE S (for ex. front lip.. type s one is hidious)
4. You'll never have a problem clearing the brembos (because you're AT)
5. i regret getting the type S for looks.. so i kinda changed my set up for power.. now .. this thing is FAST and i'm an AT also. don't let people flame on ya... i got it to drive clients around in the busy traffics of LA.. =)

As an 08 TL owner, I would suggest driving the car around a bit to test for rattles.

If you don't like rattles, the TSX might be a better choice.

More horsepower, quad exhausts, and the only model that is available with a 6MT.

potential buyer

I have a WDP 07' TL/nav. Do yourself a favor and closely examine the color difference between the front and especially the rear bumper - and the rest of the car - before you decide on the exterior color. The WDP has the most pronounced color difference. I bought mine on a blinding sunlight day, and for some reason (overwhelmed by the excitement of the impending purchase?), I did not notice the color difference. I later learned that the bumpers/rest of car color difference has been - and still is a common occurence - on most makes/models - some more than others. Generally, the darker the exterior color the better. Otherwise, the car is as advertised - great!

Cannot believe the 08s still have rattles ;( It is the last year of the 3G, and Acura still has not figured out the rattles. What a shame!! To be fair, the TL is a wonderful car, sans rattles.

The reason I am leaning towards the S is because I don't want to have to do any mods.

Also, what do you mean about clearing the brembos? I'd be getting AT whether it is the Type S or not.

You cant forget how sweet the light tan leather and black trim looks with the Type S imprinted into the headrests.... I love it! Type S all the way, there are TONS of NA TLs on the road and you can just look over and smile knowing your car is better in so many ways!

I won't get a black car based strictly on how difficult they are to keep clean. White isn't much better, and they both look excellent when cleaned up, but the winter with salt around here would be hell on a black car.

That is such the truth, and for your decision making process- bare with me here : I bought an '07 TL/ Nav in NBP last summer, and was extremely pleased with the purchase, and as far as car washed, took it to Auto Bell ( even asked to look at the drying towels ) probably twice a month for the 9 months that I owned it, and started to see swirl marks (very light, but still there). Then I really started to regret not getting a TYPE-S, for tons of reasons, feedback from this forum, pics that are just georgous and the info that is available #1, ( the sportiness, I for one thinks the front A-SPEC lip is so NASTY- as in GOOD!! , engine mod limitations, and the other stock features. So went in looking to trade the '07 for an '08 TYPE-S, and once the $$$ looked right on the deal (This is the third car we have bought from them the past 18 months) so he did me right- anway, once I knew it was for real, wife and I went out to make the hardest decision- THE COLOR. She liked the WDP, and I really might have done it , but it had Toupe intereior instead of the two tone wich not only looks great, but will show less as well (the 07 had toupe, and appraching 9K months showed horrible) so we (I) decided on NBP I mean NBP FTW ALWAYS ANYWAY, and have had it for a bout 2 months now, and could not be more satisfied!! I have only taken it ONLY to a touchless car wash, drive it for a min then come home and wipe it down with a chamois and it makes the biggest difference- ultimately its a personal preference, just my

Well the touchless is a given, but I really do prefer the white over the black. NO offense. Anyone know where I can find pics of the White with the 18" Aspec wheels?

08' WDP TL Type S...

LOVING IT! I only have this crappy phone pic right now, but more will be coming as soon as it gets sunny out so I can get some better pics.
