Possibly looking to get a TL
Hey all. New here. I have a 07 g35x that I want to dump and looking for replacements. Looking at legacys as well as TLs..
I know before 04 they had tranny issues but it looks like the new model in 04 fixed that. This true?
Also based on my budget...I would have to settle for a high milage TL. Is there any reason why I should steer clear of a higher milage TL..I don't mind miles. Just what your opinions. The reviews on the 04s seem great
Thanks

Seeing how you say you're on a budget, you'll probably be better off looking at a 05-06.
Low mileage would be 60k-70k miles.. Average would be close to 80k miles. Alot would be 100k (make sure 105k service was done, or you can expect to pay as much as $1,000 to get it done)

What's your budget? Oh, and no they didn't fix the transmission problems for the 04. If I remember correctly, the 2004 TL's used the same transmission as the 2nd generation TLs so they were still susceptible to the same transmission problems. If you want a TL that has less of a chance of having transmission failure go for 05-08.

I hope it comes with navi. And if it doesn't, you can always do a navi conversion!

going to see if i can find one....spend no more than 13K...but also need to find a car that i can take a loan out on...so i have a feeling the car will HAVE to be under 100K miles...
Even though i am changing jobs and my commute will be 2 miles a day..i don't mind high miles..but the banks may

The transmission problems are not extremely common, and depending on the vehicle, you probably won't run into issues. $13k should find you a really nice TL. A local deal here in Tampa has a '05, 92k, Navi, & A SPEC for $12,900. If the one you buy isn't up to date in services, make sure the price reflects it Good luck!

^^^I was very frustrated with Honda AT issue because I had sold two of them for the same issue. But any way try to looking into 05 so the potential of trany failure will be much less. GL with the hunt for TL.

Edit: unless you looking to get a 6spd MT then yes 04 is ok.
