Possibly goodbye to the Acura Family
Well, the time has come, and I want something different. Drove a GrandCherokee SRT-8 today, and fell in love. The truck is absolutely awesome. Thinking seriously about getting rid of my TL and getting that. Working on numbers now with the dealership, possibly will sell my car outright, there is a feeler thread in the BM.
Anyways,
Just wanted to throw that out there to get some opinions. The truck is loaded, Nav, Reverse Camera, DVD Entertainment System, BlueTooth, nothing missing aside from a stick shift.....but after driving it, I will get over that small factor pretty quick.
We'll have to wait and see what happens though!

Give it a long hard look. Sometimes first impressions aren't long lasting. The SRT-8 isn't very practical as a SUV, but it is sure fun to drive, as the 4900 lb Jeep gets to 60 pretty quick high 4's, but drops a little up top as the 1/4 is around 14 sec. Downside is that you'll probably see fuel mileage in the 11/12 range although the EPA is 11/14. My daughter's 5.7 Hemi Grand sees around 13 overall mileage with EPA 13/18. The tires aren't good in the snow, suspension is taut that on rough roads it's not very smooth so not good for long trips, not for off road excursions, but the Jeep was made for speed and handling, which for a SUV it does exceptionally well. It will make some believers out of unsuspecting motorists.

Nice choice and probably would be one of the only 3 from the dodge/crysler family that I would own. If I had to chose an SRT I would have to go with the Viper truck I have test drove that baby and she is one hell of a ride, but just not practical. The cherokee SRT is also very nice, I've loved them ever since they were shown at the philly autoshow before it's release.
I have owned 2 neons previously and regardless of what some might say it was one of the most reliable cars i've ever owned. I had a 2000 and a 2003 and just them both past 80K without a single problem. I'm looking into getting a new truck myself now, last night I had a blow-out on the interstate with my Envoy coming down to VA from Jersey last night and she died twice. Friggen GMC... I'm going to the acura dealer this morning to take a serious look at the MDX/RDX
Whatever you decide just don't rush it.

I deleted your thread in the Black Market. Please read THE *NEW* BLACK MARKET RULES and repost it when you are sure you want to sell.

Apples and oranges.
With gas prices going nowhere but up, you can only guess that the federal government will be lowering their threshold for "gas guzzling" with an added tax somewhere along the way. If it's added to the purchase of the car I guess you're OK but if they turn it into a yearly thing, wow.
Some towns in my state are already attempting to offer tax breaks for hybrids, the next obvious thing would be the alternate, I am guessing.

OH BOY. Very nice looking and fast, but a Dodge? Not for me EVER. I guess the new
warranty they offer is good, but NOT a JAP car. If you get it, get a good set of winter
tires. I am sure you would anyway, don't want those nice wheels getting full of SALT.

Nice looking truck I actually drove a 2006 300C SRT-8 one time for about ten minutes and I had a blast!
I wouldn't get it if it were me just because of the gas mileage, but I do think it's an awesome truck. If you want it go for it and good luck

Well, here is the thing. I miss having a truck, I need the room for my 4 year old brother (along with the DVD player) and it is surprisingly a very smooth ride. I took it through some nasty roads, and it rode better than my TL in some cases.
As for the harshness, a BIG part of that is the runflats, which I would ditch asap....junk tires.
Quarter mile times are closer to low 13's, dont know where you got 14 from......
Anyways, we'll have to see what happens. Nothing is for sure yet, but there is a good chance!

how about trade in the tl at the jeep stealership and use it for the hennesy upgrade.... nothing like a Jeep SRT600 (620hp 600lb torque, no honda torque problem here)... o to 60 in 3.5 seconds 1/4 mile in low and I mean low 12 if you know how to launch you can get it under 12... but then again you may cook the differential
just look at that intercooler

The SRT8 is pretty sweet, if I wanted a Jeep Cherokee that would be the way to go, but knock on all the plastic in your TL and then the cherokee, you'll miss the material quality and workmanship

I have heard some bad things on jeep reliability in the past. have a friends whose model has no drain on the heater box. she heard sloshing and found a plug on the INSIDE. last I knew she was riding around with a bucket in front of the front seat to keep it drained. They have some rear axle issues, window motors and other problems in the older ones.

Wow! what a leap from a TL (or any other sports luxury sedan for that matter) to a $45k, 12/15mpg, 4.6 sec (0-60) Jeep Cherokee - yes, a jeep cherokee!
No man! If you don't particularly feel much luxury these days and prefer a roadster, go with the real thing ---> http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/charger_srt8.asp . Not a Jeep Cherokee. You will even have a an extra $10k left for mods.

awd hemi does and so does the srt jeep AWD putting down the 420bhp to 4 wheels... although I am pretty sure it is rear wheel biased on a corner
