Is possible to have LED fogs?
Hey guys, I was wondering is it possible to purchase 5K LED fogs from V-LEDS for our cars? If so, what bulb would I need?
BTW, I live in NYC so it will be purely cosmetic

V-LEDS. has H8 bulbs as HID's. I don't want those.
What about these: http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-Bulbs/DRLFOG-LED/9006/5K-WHITE-28-LED-13W-DRLFOG-p8022473-1-2.html#ReviewsTabAnchor
Will they work?

Don't know if those 9006 (aka HB4) will work, but mainly the difference is H8 is 35watts and 9006 is 55watts. We're talking LEDs here so wattage is a lower though.
Personally, I'd assume they don't work but who knows.
Please don't complain here if you bought the wrong bulb size.

Manual says and I quote "12V - 54W (HB4)". HB4 on V-LEDS shows 9006. I'm assuming it's those but I'm not sure.
GuitarPlayer, the only thing V-LEDS shows for the H8 are HIDs.

The lower fogs are H8, not to mention they are 35watt.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-acura-tl-bulb-sizes-list-3g-garage-g-077-a-691135/
The DRL is HB3/9005
The manual shouldn't be showing HB4 for anything.
That's why we're here, right?
To save you from buying the wrong bulb =)

I'm just going by what the manual says bro.
So now what? Acurazine guys saying H8, manual saying HB4. I'm totally confused.

Followed specifications in the manual and purchased type HB4 fog lamps for my 07 TL-S. I didn't even compare the physical bulbs but upon attempting to replace the new lamps wouldn't fit. Upon closer examination the old fogs were Type H8's. HB4's Very close but not compatible... go figure!
I searched the forum's but didnt find any mention. Anyone ever heard of this before? You might want to check your bulbs before replacing!

So H8 is fine then. I needed a harness for my DRL....do I need one for the fogs too?
Are there any other reputable sites that sell LEDs?

What is not "fine" is buying a HB4 bulb and find out it doesn't work.

You might what to consider the tint with your LEDs...
Yellow tint increases ground foilage contrast - thats why hunters and shooters wear yellow glasses. Pilots wear blue cause thats best for aviators up in the sky.

Suprstar, H8 isn't "fine". It IS the bulb size.

Also, anyone use these yet? Do we know if they put out a nice amount of light for fog light purposes? From what I've read, it sounds like at least the CREE LEDs weren't working great for back up lights necessarily due to putting out just a directed beam of light and not reflecting at all. Also, please correct me if I'm wrong and there are good LED reverse lights, I would be interested in that as well.

I think I had looked at those too. Do you have the backup camera by chance? I just remembered that was the other concern with these x that they didn't illuminate that well for the camera. Thanks.

Ahhh.. That kind of helps... You definitely don't have the stock back-up camera, you said yours is the night-vision back up camera so i can't really tell how those LEDs would look on my stock back-up camera since it's not night vision...
They do look bright as fuck, but like I said I can't really tell because your also parked on a street surrounded by street lights. I was hoping to see them in action in a pitch black area with no surrounding light posts, but thanks for posting those pictures up.
I'm still not sold on them just yet, so I'll just wait until someone else with the stock back-up camera buys them and posts pictures for me.

Thanks for the pics. I have the LED License Plate and Interior lights coming in the mail tomorrow, I figure maybe my backup lights will be next. How was the install of your backup lights, are they just plug and play? Difficult to install? Also, by night vision cam, do you just mean night vision due to super bright lights, or do you have a special cam?
And also on the main topic of the thread, anyone running the LED fogs from JLC mentioned above? Do you need any harnesses/ballasts to run them?

No problem guys.
The reverse lights are plug & play and are super easy to install.
My navi and backup cam were installed aftermarket by Martin. The camera is same one from this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/check-out-backup-camera-773094/
As for the JLC LED fogs, I really wanna know if you need a harness for them?

Since he has a aftermarket camera, it's kind of hard to tell how effective those LEDs actually are because 1. His back-up camera video quality may be way superior than ours, so even though it may look great and clear on his it may not look the same on our stock back-up camera. 2. He's on a street with light posts every 20 feet so there's extra light on the street kind of helping illuminate the area.

Look at first and third pic. Even the amber street lights are overpowered by the brightness of the reverse lights.
In the third pic, look at my headlights and reverse lights.

There is a vendor on here that goes by the name "Kinetic" you should PM him and ask him what's the best price he can give you. He's a vendor for JLC Lighting.
I like them, but as you (or someone else) mentioned the JLC Reverse lights are directional and only point straight forward so on the navigation screen all you really see is a bright white hotspot in the center of the navi.
I want to get those 7W LEDs since they are 360 style and light up the whole reverse light housing so it looks like the light will be spread more evenly. I'll go take some pictures right now of my CREE LED Reverse lights for you to see. Major hot spotting, but it's pretty damn bright.

Brakes applied
No brakes, only reverse lights
Also no brakes applied, only reverse lights
Like I said, they are very directional and only light up one spot on the navi. However when you look through the rear view you will notice that it really does light up the whole area behind the car. The navi back-up camera doesn't really pick it up that well though, instead you just see a hot-spot of bright white light in the center.
I'm looking for some new reverse lights that will evenly light up the whole area of the screen without being too overpowering white (I still want to be able to make out objects and judge my distance)

Thanks for those pictures, i appreciate it. I think I will hold off for now, and wait until I see a nice alternative that works well with the cam. I'll be interested to see how those 7 watt ones work for you.

Also, did you replace your factory camera with that night vision camera? Or did you never have a navi unit at all and had a navi installed along with that back up camera?
I want to upgrade it... but I don't know how simple or difficult it is to replace the oem camera

Yup.. It's pretty hard to see at night. How much did you pay that person to install that night vision camera for you?
