possible to get factory nav installed after-the-fact?
I love my '04 TL, but kick myself every time I climb in for being too impatient to wait for my color combo w/ nav to come in. I needed a car and jumped at one without nav, thinking that I was making the wise decision anyway by saving myself the $2k.
I wasn't.
So the question now is this: is it still possible to get the factory navigation installed in my TL? Has anyone done/tried this yet?
Thanks.

i knew this topic would start coming up eventually. there were like 3 threads today asking this. trade the car in for a navi. you'll probably take a hit in the wallet. i dunno how many miles you have on the car but you might be able to get a decent deal on a navi. probably spend 4-5K because you have to trade in, maybe less if your car is really new.
I think the aftermarket Navi would look odd in TL. Adding factory Navi, yes, it's like a major project and would cost a lot $$$. Either trading in to get a Navi with nice factory look, or just live with none-Navi. Why bother? it's just a Navi.

One of the many issues you're up against is that the Navi and non-Navi models probably have different wiring harnesses. Ever seen the wiring harness of a car laid out by itself?
Bottom line, if you really believe you fvcked up and want to go Navi, bite the bullet, take the hit, and trade it in. It's your only choice.

People on the MDX forum have discussed this for years and have come to the same conclusion: it would be cheaper to trade in the car.
One alternative is to find a good aftermarket unit. That has the advantage of being able to be moved from car to car. Disadvantages too of course.
If somewhere there was a wrecked TL, and you could get all of the Navi parts out of it, assuming you could find out all the parts involved, you might get it all done for a fair price, if you could do the labor yourself.

Pioneer and Alpine make awesome aftermarket units that have portable screens, here they are:

My personal pick is the alpine.
You can get them for much cheaper than the prices shown. They both have about 10 million points of interest, just as good as the factory navigation
