I knew there was a thing in the trunk to pull but I never really looked to find out where it was located, so I guess I did not know you could get to it through the cabin. Good to know since I keep my jumpers in the trunk, they'd be difficult to get to if the battery was completely drained.
its not some fancy option we have. its a law to have these, every car i have owned has this.

I knew about the emergency inside trunk release, but not about the one in the pass through. Interesting info.
To the people mentioning trunk releases being required, yeah, it's actually been federally mandated on cars sold after 2002 that any vehicle with a compartment wholly separated from the passenger compartment of a vehicle and capable of fitting a 3 year old child dummy must have an emergency mechanical inside release.
While this mostly applies to cars with trunks, it also weirdly applies to thinks like the "Rambox" bedside storage compartments on Ram pickups. The releases also must be glow in the dark and have a pictogram describing their function (which is often a person humorously jumping out of a trunk and running away).

Wait... so this pops the trunk open?
So... that one time I forced 1/3 of my body through the pass-through to get to the cables behind my cargo-net to boost the car... when that entire time I could've pumped my trunk?! ARRRG fail...

Both the in-trunk releases are identified in the owners manual, and I've never ever had occasion to use the in-trunk release in any car.
