Plastic trim rusting?
I have a silver 05 TL with about 15,000 miles on it. My front grill (the silver "wings" the protrude from the Acura "A") appears to be rusting; although it is plastic. The silver trim that is part of the front hood is also tarnishing / rusting. The silver rear trunk trim piece (above the licence plate) is showing the same. Even the "TL" badge on the rear trunk is doing it as well. It is like little rust spots; several little rust spots.
I am not sure what it do about it. I tried some turtle wax trim polish on the chrome-like plastic "TL" badge, but it didn't correct the problem.
Has anyone else seen this on their TL? Is there anything I can try to get rid of this or will I have to replace the trim pieces?
I did a search, but didn't find anything. If this has already been discussed, please post up a link.

weird! ~25k miles and no sign, but i'm in LA/cali weather so that might have to do with it, seeing as you are in colorado.
maybe the dealer will cover it.

I will give the clay bar a try and see if it works. It is very strange. Colorado winters can b rough. They don't use salt, but they use Magnesium Cloride which apparently tends to turnish chrome trim. I will let everyone know how the clay bar works out.

I tried the clay bar and it did not work. Oh well, I will take it to the dealership and see what they can do. I will also take a look at other TLs in the area and see if mine is the norm or an exception.
To be honest, I am not that concerned about it. My TL still looks damn good even with these minor blemishes.

I had similar problem. I think it was due to one of our mechanics grinding some metal outside our shop upwind of where i park. It also happened to be damp out that day. We all know plastic does'nt rust, so it seemed odd. i could also feel like a sandpaper texture to my hood that you could'nt see. I clayed the car and all seemed to be good after that. Good luck.
