Curious as to why? Because that m3 looks pretty sick to me. Reminds me of a nice matte white c63.

Do it, I plan on trying it in the spring.

I don't know who's car this is but it's sick, I might try doing a custom blue or something else.

At this point I'd just have the car repainted to a color of your liking. REAL PAINT.

you're gonna spend around 350 to plastidip your car because the clear coat failed?

sounds like a temporary solution to a permanent problem.
a bandaid fix if you will.

and plastidip is removable...meaning its NOT DURABLE.
meaning if a tear happens to form....you're just gonna be peeling it all off.

but hey, its your money and your problems!

I always wondered for those guys that plasti-dip their cars. I have found the stuff to actually not be very durable. It peels off very easily in my experiences and I dont see holw plasti-dipping an entire car would last more than a day before the coat gets peeled somewhere or just starts coming off. So what happens when you get a bird shit on your car that needs to be scrubbed, or some road tar on the side of the car behind the wheels, or just anything that touches your car for that matter. Within a week I bet your car will start to look like shit.

NO, do not do it!

i wonder if the makers of plasti dip knew what kind of impact it would have on us automotive enthusiasts. this stuff was never intended to be sprayed on cars.

I am one of the biggest supporters for Plasti-dip, but the more important question is why is the clearcoat failing on your relatively new car? Any way you can complain to Acura?

Actually its VERY durable. I have it on my factory rims used as my winter tires. Its holding up to negative zero temps, car washes and all the salt and sand on the road. Plasti dip is repairable, you can touch it up or peel the bad section off and respray. I was opposed to the stuff at first but the more i read on teh stuff and played with it its a CHEAP harmless solution for changing the color of your car Temporarily. Ive seen some pretty nice looking Plasti dipped cars

Just fine I helped a friend peel it off his 350z. He had it on for 2 years. Clear was perfect under it. It actually protected the paint from stone chips. We washed it real good and gave it a coat of wax and it was flawless

Makes sense about the protection but I meant how would it look after since he is having clear coat problems. I would imagine it could make those spots worse..... But then again I haven't plasti dipped anything yet.

I would not do it. I did my wheels in the stuff and it was a pain to take off and it peels up pretty easily... plus $350 is expensive for a temporary solution IMO

Dont do it at all, trust me. It looks awful in person, you can touch it and it looks really bad when its dirty. Just plasti dipped my friends car 2 wks ago and I didnt like the whole concept. If its not done rights its a pain in the ass to peel off. I was going to do it to my car but I said no way i hell ima make my car look ugly. It would be and embarresment if I did it to my ride since Im a painter.

Ive seen plastidipped car at the gym. it looked like they were in the process of taking off the dip.
Very cool effect to have have the car in shiny clearcoat and the other parts were being ripped off.
kinda like those "Bio-mechanical tattoos" you see on peoples arms and stuff

You can make any shade you want, or get the gallons and use a spray gun. They also make a gloss, pearl, copper, metallic etc top coat now. If you spray 4-5 layers it's extremely durable it's not gonna come off unless you deliberately do it, you can even go through a car wash with it. And worst case if it does get messed up, peel off the affected panel and fix it in an hour or so. Small touch ups can be done by using a solvent to smooth out the tear/rip and then just throw another coat on. I did my wheels a few months ago and they're holding up great.
