Planning on buying 06 Acura TL AT
2006 Acura TL has 100,000 KM.
The seller told me he hasn't changed the timing belt yet and it's been 10 years.. (Read that TB should be changed 7 years or 150 000KM?)
He told me Acura has not recommended changing the TB 2 months ago. We live in Canada and i read that TB should be changed more frequently in harsher climates. He told me I can call Acura with his VIN and pull up records. Wondering what i should do tomorrow for when i see the car, do i check the maintenance minder? Would calling acura solve everything? And yes i'm bringing it to an independent mechanic.

According to the 06 manual, you change the timing belt and inspect the water pump (you should change it anyway while in there) when the "4" shows up in the MID. There is no 7 year change interval for the TL per the manual. Additionally, the manual states, "If you drive regularly in very high temperatures (over 110 F) or in very low temperatures (under -20 F), replace every 60,000 miles.
