Pictures of my PIAA Reverse Lights!

19224 PIAA W2 XTREME WHITE BULB, Suggested from the active thread on this topic of reverse lights being too dim... The lights seem to be slightly better, but they sure look cool from behind. Cost me around $15.

Ordered this set through www.thepartssite.com, and here are the pictures... Oh and the car is still very DIRTY

why doesnt anyone ever take before and after pics..... there are places for the bulb, change one first and leave the stock in the other one and take a pic. that way people can see the huge difference.

great looking light though.... impressed

Dude, did you know that there is a slot inside the lip of the trunk lid that you can use to close the trunk, rather that have to put your fingers on the outside??

Lights look good!!

what about buying these from autobarn.com? i believe they have a twin pack for 14 bucks...

for example, for me it came out to this:
1) the parts site - 27.50
2) autobarn - 18.90

http://www.autobarn.net/piw2xtremsup.html

are these the same bulbs that everyone else is talking about?

and do these bulbs actually increase the visibility?

The bulbs sold on "the parts site" is also a twin pack so you only have to purchase one.

Rets linked to the other thread, I just put install instructions in there. Not hard at all, but I did miss the trunk lid pulldown (it takes one screw) in the instructions.

If you really look you can see a bit of blue but you'd never notice it if you weren't looking for it.

Cloudsplitter
I took before and afters but they were useless. If you look at the light as it hits the garage wall it does appear brighter, but there was no real impact on visibility while backing down a driveway.

To all, I ordered from Carolina Classic Trucks they were great guys and price was $12.95 a pair .. shipped and received within 3 days.

Not much to the install. Just use a small flathead screwdriver to remove the small clips that hold in the trunk lid lining(just wedge the srewdriver under the part that looks like a nailhead, and pop out). Do that all around the lining. Once the clips are out, remove the rubber bumpstops by twisting and pulling, and remove the plastic cover that gaurds the locking mechanism. Pull the lining down, reach in, twist and pull out the bulbs and switch out.

Does anyone know how these would compare to the 9led lights that some people are putting in as reverse lights? I'm trying to decide which is going to be brighter and nicer. Thanks for your help.

Sorry about the delays in responses, I just got back up to college, and I didnt have my computer till today.

As far as install, pretty simple, just remove all the screws, by using a flathead screwdriver to pull out the small plastic pins, and then you can just pull the rest of it out. Remember that the carpet lining wont completely come off, it will just bend down, so that you can have room to install the lights. The lights have a simple pin that you push on to unlock them and then turn them counter clockwise to unlock them. Put the lights back in and then just rescrew them, and your all done!

These lights do provide more reverse light than any LED set-up, I have seen some 9 LED reverse lights, and they look brighter, but they will actually provide less light. In all honestly the difference in rear backing up was worth it, I have 20% tint on all my windows, and any increasing in light is a very important thing for backing up. Highly recommend the product and if you guys have any more questions just ask.

Just install the PIAA 19224 lights during lunch hour. Pretty easy install except the "remove the trim piece over the lock mechanism". Thanks OP!

I know this is going to be a major thread revival but I was wondering if these lights: 19224 PIAA W2 XTREME WHITE BULB, that the OP said he used still apply to 3rd Gens. I ordered them from Autobarn.com and salesperson or order processor contacted me doubting they would fit. For only $20 with shipping & the fact that they are returnable I'm willing try but any insight would be appreciated. I also cant find any license plate LED recommendations.
