Pics of K&N vs stock filter
I need some help guys, as you can see the K&N part# 33-2078 is shorter than the stock filter. Can some verify if I got the correct filter?

mine fit fine.....
i just installed the 33-2078 and it was fine. hmmmm, i do not know what to tell you. i purchased mine from bavauto.com since the same filter fits in an old m5 bmw. where did you buy yours?? i would try and get the correct one. good luck!!
That number in the picture is the right one according to all the sites I've looked at. Is it possible the wrong filter was in the box? Meaning did the filter fit in the box with tons of room to spare like the box was actually made for a larger filter.
My guess would be the wrong filter was in that box.

I have still have the box, and that's the correct number as some have already memtioned.
The old filter is wider and longer, as I still have the OEM filter sitting in the K&N box, and it won't fit in the K&N box, not even close.
Try installing the K&N and see if it fits, my did. I think it's because of how the K&N fits into the stock air box it should work.

Probably the wrong filter in the box. Get another and no matter what anyone says, don't install it if it doesn't look and fit right.
