Passenger Air Bag disabled?

I have an 06 TL...

I read through the instructions in the cars manual and it says if the light is on the 'Passenger Air Bag disbaled' message on the dash that the person or thing in the passenger seat weighs less than 40 lbs or so. Well my wife and I have both sat in the passenger seat and that Air Bag disabled light is still lit. Is this something I need to change or is the seat defective?

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for any help.

it also happens if you are leaning really far forward. does it stay on when nothing is in the seat?

the Occupant Position Detection sensors decide if you are leaning against the side window or layed way back in the seat- or very light-weight like a child... that could be injured if the passengr side airbag deployed- that triggers the side airbag light and disables the system on that side of the car

If it stay ons and you are sitting normally- get to the dealer- something is wrong
gen2 has a 10 yer warranty on the system- gen3 might too

When the seat is empty the light is off.
