Question Painting side window trim chrome???

Does anyone know if it is possible to take a 2004 TL to a detailing shop and have the side window's trim painted chrome? I am big fan of the black 2004 TL; however, I think it could use some more chrome on the body and some nice 18" silver 5 spoke rims and low profile performance tires: 255/35/18 or 245/40/18. Comments and answers greatly appreciated.

If you are from the the Toronto area and know of a really good credital aftermarket shop to have the window rims painted, please drop me the name of the shop.

Cheers,

Adam

You might be able to find a shop that would strip the finish off and chrome plate the trim for you. You may want to check with a local wheel shop, they may have a shop they use for repairs or refinishing that they can recomend. I prefer the black trim myself but if you want it and are willing to pay for it, go for it.

Puffy Lumps, Wood Decals, Chrome Paint.....what's next? White tires?

Please people, please. Do something constructive with your money. Like hiring an interior decorator; your homes must look like sh*t with the lack of taste you're displaying in here.

That may be the rudest, funniest thing you've said yet. LOL is a ridiculous cliche, but that one really did make me laugh out fuckin loud.

Ok, Ok....how about chrome door handles?

Ok peoples......so it looks like chrome window trim is not such a popular idea. My second idea is to paint the door handles chrome or order some aftermarket chrome door handles like on the TL A-Spec on the forum's homepage. My objective is to add some chrome to the black TL. I think it needs some dressing up (flash). Similiar models with chrome are the Acura TSX, with its chrome door handles and chrome window trim, the Audi A4 3.0, and the BMW 330ci. Plus, the 2nd generation TL has chrome door handles and chrome window trim. I must agree that both door handles and window trim is TOO much though.

OK - without getting all over your ass, let me just seriously and gently ask you, why chrome on the TL? Why? You say it needs dressing up? OK, I don't agree, but who the hell am I? Dress it up. Get A-Spec or some of its parts. Get different wheels. Fly a "Yo, Canada!" window flag. I don't know. But chrome? Is life that boring in Toronto? Chrome is so - uh - inner city, you know? Flashy like gold front teeth. Not really aesthetically pleasing, especially not on a car that looks as sleek and sophisticated as the TL. Just my opinion, though. Enjoy your car!

yes.

You can get it painted. I was going to paint mine the same color of the grill in the front, i think it is brushed aluminum, but i tought it was over the top so i am just going to paint the Body side Mouldings brushed aluminum to bring out the lines, i will post pics when the whole car is done.

Can you paint the entire car aluminum so that we can see what it looks like?

Thanks.

In some of the serious threads. You probably don't read those.

Yeah, anything over two days old with 55 hits isn't for me. Especially with a subject line like "Mr. Clean Did The Trick!".

The Puffy Lumps From Hell ("Puffylumpers", for short) that do nothing to protect the doors from dings but do a world of good for Lexus drivers trying to mock Acura owners.
