Unhappy Paint Problems? 07 Tl-s

I've had my 07 TL-S since december and no problems with it. Now i looked closely after i washed it last time and the paint looks funny. Its the NBP color by the way. The blue flakes look like they melted and turned into spots. Idk what it is but i dont like it. Im going this weekend to the dealer to check it out. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem??

I have an 06 NBP, my paint looks great. The only thing i have noticed is that nbp shows light scratches easily, and the swirls! Hope the dealer will solve your problem.

I have a NBP too and the swirls would be easy to spot than any of the other colors ...

I guess we have to live with the choices we make when we signed on the dotted line ...

Its not a metallic color with flakes, it is a pearl color. If you look at some of the other NBP's at your delaership, they will be the same,

You can't own a NBP without knowing how to polish with a Porter Cable dual action random polisher! If not, you'll need to live with a nice car that has lots of swirls! Do yourselves a favor and spend some time on Autopia.org

You may be having oxidization which will make the pearl not look as sharp as it used to .. Clear coat does oxodize. Have you used a good cleaner/sealant on it?

What you might want to look into is claybarring the car then use something like ColorX made by meguiars on it to remove the oxidized layer .. ColorX also leaves a modest sealant behind. Another good one is Optimums Poly-Seal..

TSC17 ,.. nice work .. can't beat the PC and the right products.

In those photos, there is no wax on the car! It was polished with Optimum Poli-Seal. If I have to do everything (wash, polish, wax), it's an all-day job. If I'm doing just a quick wax inbetween, it's a few hours. As for wax, you should check out Poorboy's World, Natty's Blue wax. It works well with the dark colors. You should learn the proper way of washing and drying too, otherwise you'll just introduce swirls like crazy! Go to Autopia and spend some time there...great information available.

Poli-Seal leaves a sealant behind .. a form or protection .. just a better one than waxes.

My paint looks great, other than the swirls. Just like everyone else.

We have a forum dedicated to washing and waxing cleverly titled: Wash & Wax.

Please continue all discussion concerning waxing and aesthetic maintenance in that forum. Let's get this thread back on topic.

07 TL TYPE-S, can you post pictures so we all know what you're talking about? I think csmeance is correct. What you are seeing are the pearl crystals in the Nighthawk Black Pearl.

He also might be seeing the orange peel errect in his car's paint. If you don't know what orange peel is (I didn't util just recently) it's the effect given to the look of your paint due to a bumpy clearcoat. What happens is, at the factory when the cars are being painted, the clear doesn't have a chance to auto level after being sprayed. The result is a blurred look to the finish.

The reason this effect is called "orange peel" is because the surface of your paint looks like the outside peel of an orange. It mimics the texture. There's really nothing you can do about it except have the car completely wet sanded but then you're degrading the thickness of your clearcoat and diminishing your ability to polish the car later.

Some cars are worse than others. I notice it pretty badly in my RRP. Too bad I didn't know more about this effect when I was buying the car.

Autopia has a lot more on this subject if interested.
