Paint ideas :)

I am trying to sell my TL now as it is on the black market. I want to get back into another Subaru as many of you know, but am unsure of when this will take place. The paint on my TL is pretty good but shows its almost 10 year age with dings, dents and rock chips galore on it and could use some sprucing up. I was going to go ahead and get it repainted the factory color NBP. It has ghay factory pinstripes on there now which i have wanted to take off but just haven't gotten around to. So my question is, besides de-pinstriping and possibly de-badging, anything else i should consider when i paint it? I am going to do an extra coat of clear to really make it pop. Comments wanted

An extra coat of clear will only make it pop if both layers are orange peel free.

if that happens all you need to do is wet sand and polish and then spray another coat and so on.

If your plan is to get rid of the TL eventually why bother spending the money to repaint it? You said your paint is pretty good, so why not leave the paint alone, go to a paintless dent repair guy to take care of the dings, have it professionally detailed and you should be good. Or if the front end is pretty rashed up maybe just have the front bumper painted? A complete paint job is going to cost a lot of money if you plan on doing it right. And if you dont do it right IMO I would rather have an aged factory paint than a shitty new paint job that looks like crap.
I still cant recommend going to Subaru as their cars are just soooo ugly, but it sounds like you have your mind set :-)

it would be done right, i get a substantial discount with a shop b/c we send all of our cars there for paint. There work i s EXCELLENT! Also, the dents cannot be pulled with paint-less repair. I figure the front end is rashed up, hood has rock chips, rear bumper has some rash/chips and one of the doors is fugly, you can see the pic in the black market. Most of the said paint defects wont bother the normal person, but if i cant manage to sell the TL then im going to go ahead and paint it. Only time will tell. Just seeing if anybody had any recommendations on what i should get done while its being painted.

Agreed with James- if your selling it, I doubt you will recoup that money. Maybe do some grill work if you do decide to paint?

It's a 9 year old car. It's bound to have some imperfections by now. If the damage is so minor that you need to point it out, then it's probably not going to affect car sale/ value. For some people, they'll buy your car as long as the price is right.

Also when I read the thread title, I thought it was going to be another brake caliper color question or a "which hue of white should I reprint my car" thread. I'm glad it's not. GLWS

Paint less dent removal, detail, and repaint front and rear bumper.
