Outside Side View Morror Replacement

I recently scraped the plastic housing on my outside side view mirror and was wondering how difficult it is to replace the damaged piece. I have read posts that seem to indicate that you have to remove the interior door trim and was wondering if this needed to be done to just replace the housing. Thanks for your help.

not hard but your best bet is a paint job or if its not deep and only topical then try buffing it out...otherwise paint it....100 bucks to paint im sure anywhere it shouldnt be more....replacing it costs more anyway.

I just had to replace mine because I cracked the housing. You do have to take of the door panel to get to the mirror. It attaches inside the door panel. I was just going to replace the housing, but they said there's a lot of wiring that would need to be redone. They told me it's easiest to replace the entire mirror.
