Original owners? Chime in!
First off, I am not an original owner. I've had this car for almost 4 months now. It seems very regularly this forum gets new members, almost every week I see at least one new member join with a "New member here!" thread open.
So obviously those people are not the original owners, but I know there are people here who have had the car since it came out in 2004 or those who waited for the Type-S.
So if you are the owner from the start, comment and vote! Feel free to tell us anything about the car that you love, how reliable it has been for you and how much fun you've had.
I just wanna get a feel of how many of you truly love the TL and have stuck with it since the beginning.
Second hand owners may chime in too!

Since I picked the car for the original owner, and lived through the service history etc...I'll consider myself kinda an original owner...I just pretend I lent it to my stepdad for the first 5 years (along with the $500/month lease payment... )

Got the car waaaay back in 2005 before joining AZ...
Looked at replacing it with various sport-lux cars in 2009-2010 and decided a change to a "faster" car wasn't worth the money or effort after driving a number of cars.

It may change but I made the thread in hopes of all the original owners joining in, the second hand owners were welcome as well but I don't really expect them to reply as much.

As the first owner, I remember half ass looking at several cars and IMO, back in Dec of '05, the TL destroyed the similarly priced BMW 330 in just about every category and I could actually sit up straight in the TL without hitting my head. It was a birthday gift to myself because everyone forgot my birthday that year.
In late '05 you didn't see many TLs at all, they really stood out as something new and very unique styling which was another reason I picked the TL over the Bimmer. Back then, people looked at you funny when you were using bluetooth like you were talking to yourself because it wasn't common. The voice commands amazed people. The DVD-A disc that came with the car amazed people at what the stock system could sound like. My biggest problem with the stock TLs was the skinny tires. IMO, just adding a set of 255 tires made it look so much better and more expensive. I don't like FWD but that was part of the reason I got it, to keep me from being me. I like going sideways way too much so FWD made sense for my daily driver.
My GF at the time had an '05 TL and she took me down to the dealer to buy my '06. Even though I knew the hp rating changes were purely on paper, we were racing each other the second we pulled out onto the main street with 8 miles on the odometer.
I remember a good friend of mine who had a 5mt Mustang GT at the time laughed at how slow the TL felt when I floored it which I agreed. The Mustang felt much quicker but the TL would take it every time we raced. The first few times I beat him, the look on his face was priceless but I probably had the same look lol.
The car has been amazingly reliable. The only thing that has gone wrong that wasn't caused by me is the power steering O-ring which cost less than a dollar to fix and a headlight that burned out. Oh, and the radio went dead as well. I've been crazy about maintenance. It still drives like new. Almost forgot nearly half of the interior bulbs are burned out. I keep putting them off because I'm going to do them all at the same time and I want to wait until I have time to replace the carpet at the same time. Front seats are showing their age. The passenger seat which is practically never used looks as bad as the driver's seat. The car still hasn't gotten a door ding. There's one tiny dent in the roof which I have absolutely no idea how it got there but you can only see it right after you wash it and only if you look for it at the perfect angle. I had the front end repainted (hood, fenders, bumper, and windshield replaced) a few years ago after I stopped using it to commute to work. It has 108,000 miles now and 3/4 of that was put on in the first 2-3 years. Freeway miles might be easy on the car mechanically but it was hell on the paint. The front of the car looked grey instead of black from thousands of chips.
I made the decision to never sell the car early on so the semi-permanent audio mods don't bother me too bad. I plan to keep it as a back up car once I buy another one.
I've replaced interior panels and pieces as they've showed wear to keep it looking new, especially the two metal strips in the center, the shifter cover, armrest, etc. A word to the wise, some of these parts that I replaced for a reasonable price several years ago are now marked up over 1,000%... not a typo. Acura is rapidly marking up common wear items like crazy.
I asked around on my old forums, turbobuick.com and clubsi/SivsAll (still has some great old racing stories dating from '98) for any Acura websites and they pointed over here. I had only planned on asking a question and leaving or I would have thought of a more creative username, I was having a bad day when I registered here.

never bought a "new" car before. bought my 99 TL in 2001, and bought my 05 TL in 2007. paid first one off, went a while with no car payments, then run across the 05 and had that itch again.
As of now, paid the 05TL off and i DO NOT want any other cars or their payments.

yes...i'm the original owner. yes, i still love my TL. bought june 2005 with 13 miles on the odo and about 3 days after coming off the truck.
been through a lot with my beloved TL (minor traumas to her) and i just can't see anyone else driving her quite honestly. 7 yrs old and looking mighty fine as my detailing obsession took over with this car. i've had no major mechanical issues AT ALL, but have many of the little quirks our TLs have (the rattles, the ticks, the finicky alignment...). it's ok though...minor character flaws. nothing is perfect.
she's now a garage queen after her latest trauma, but she still gets lots of love and i appreciate what my TL is able to do from a performance perspective everytime i go for a drive. i love driving this car. driving my MDX is a reminder of that.
and yes the previous thread...which i believe IHC started...some of the OG have moved on...so a year later...how many are still left? doesn't seem like many.

Original owner here. I took her home 8/30/06 with 8 miles on her. I traded her in for my fast, but extremely unreliable 02 S4. While I do miss twin turbo, awd, 6MT mayhem, I don't miss all of those trips to the dealer. I think I spent more time in a dealer rental than my S4. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have done anything differently. 6 years later and not a single issue with the 06 TL!

I was the original owner, bought it with only 21 miles on it, gave it away before it rolled over 18K last October, after owning it for about 2.5 years, and now someone else enjoys riding her.... My car, i am talking about my car...... ahh forget it...

I am NOT the original owner, but I got my Type S with only 600 miles on it.
My Type S was purchased in August 2007 by a man who turned it back in a couple of months later because "he didn't like the paint job on the car"......LOL.
He got Acura to "eat" the car. He then turned around and purchased the exact same car in a 2008 model-same color, same interior....everything.

Original owner here!
Car has been flawless for 83K (except its on 3rd tranny, all warranty)
It is really a timeless design and a pleasure to own.
Just have to do a mod here and there to stay completely satisfied.
Matt that is so funny about your username

I know what happened....he bought in August and then saw that he should have waited another month to get the next model year. So he made up a story, got Acura to drink his Kool-Aid and turned around and pulled the trigger on the new model year (2008) Type S....especially since there were no changes from the 2007 to 2008.
I bought the Type S on December 31st, 2007.....end of month/end of year! I paid the same price as a Base TL for the car.

Yo!
Took delivery of an '07 TL-S 5-years ago last week (5/26/07, iirc). ~62,000 original owner miles in that time. I waited for the Type-S becuase I liked the '02 Type-S so much.
Which I also still own (as an original owner). Took delivery of that one 12-31-2001 .... so about 10-1/2 years and about 105,000 or so miles on that one.
No real problems with either car. 1 tranny under warranty on the '02. A couple of minor warranty items on the '07.
The 2007 TL Type-S is easily the best car I've ever owned.

Best car I have owned. It's been almost six years now with no significant issues- just one recall for the power steering hose recall and a blown front speaker. Not bad- two dealership trips in total. I have done all the other maintenance and it's been pretty easy.
I have 48k miles.

Original owner. Purchased early 2006 built AT in early 2007 w/ the full installed aspec package and with only 30 miles on her. Its now paid off with ~109k miles. First new car, and best all around car i have ever owned hands down. Hopefully she still has a lot of life in her because I will be sad when i have to put her down.

b/c they hang out in ramblings and they develop a weird internet buddies relationship with the guys on the forums. plus some of them are actually friends outside the forums b/c they see each other at car meets or help each other out. AZ is by far a much more active forum than others i have seen.

But you'll never get rid of the TL
